With the beginning of the Major League Baseball off-season comes several transactions.
One of which came on November 2nd for the Toronto Blue Jays, as they released Raimundo De Los Santos, Tanner Andrews, Daz Cameron, CJ Van Eyk, Beau Philip, Rhylan Thomas, Josbel Garcia, and C.J. Stubbs.
De Los Santos and Garcia are the two prospects who elected free agency. De Los Santos mainly spent the 2026 season with the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays, slashing .249/.366/.353 with four home runs in 238 plate appearances for a 98 wRC+. While he had a high walk rate of 14.3 BB%, there is a ton of swing and miss in his game, ending his year with a 30.3 K%.
Most of Garcia’s season was spent with De Los Santos with the D-Jays. After signing as a minor league free agent in early April, he appeared in 23 games with the Blue Jays’ Single-A team and authored a 5.48 ERA and 5.37 FIP across 51.2 innings of work.
Most of the players who elected free agency (or had their contract end) played their season in the upper minors. Philip appeared in 22 games split between Double-A and Triple-A. Thomas signed in mid-June and didn’t make his debut in the team’s organization until late August. Most of his time in the organization was spent with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons.
Stubbs, a catcher, was signed in January, but spent his season mainly in Triple-A with some brief appearances with the Florida Complex League Blue Jays, the D-Jays, and the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
Eyk, Andrews and Cameron are the most notable of the bunch, as both players appeared in big league games for the Blue Jays in 2026. Rudy Martin Jr. also elected free agency, but recently re-signed on a minor league contract with the team.
Expect more moves to come as we inch closer to the impending lockout.
