Bow-wow-wow, yippie-yo, yippie-yay
Vancouver, BC – When you think about a trip to the ballpark, you’ve got a few things on the itinerary. Maybe you wanna grab that favourite concession item… Maybe you and your buddies like to build a beer snake with everyone in your section… But Tuesday night at Nat Bailey Stadium in Vancouver is a special night for both baseball fans and dog lovers alike.
The annual “Dog Day of Summer” game is back at the legendary ballpark, where fans of the Vancouver Canadians have permission to bring their four-legged friends out for an evening of baseball, as the hometown C’s welcome the Spokane Indians [High-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies] to the Nat for the first game of a six-game set. And yes, there will be plenty of dog coverage in the next edition of Under the C’s.
It’s your last chance to get your tickets for the only Dog Day of Summer!

Vancouver is coming off a split on the road last week, going 3-3 against the Eugene Emeralds, despite outscoring them 34-20 in the week-long series. The C’s find themselves sitting in 5th place, a mere three games into the Northwest League’s second half, while Spokane sits at the top, boasting a 3-0 record, following consecutive victories over the Tri-City Dustdevils [High-A L.A. Angels affiliate] last week.
2019 Blue Jays Draft pick Michael Dominguez is expected to get the start on the mound tonight for the Canadians as they start the series with Spokane. Dominguez currently has a 5.01 ERA with 47 strikeouts in ten starts this season for Vancouver.
Meanwhile, at the plate, the C’s will be hoping to keep the bats firing the way they were for much of the series with Eugene. Alex De Jesus, who went 7 for 19 with two home runs and nine RBIs last week, will look to lead the offence in this series, much like he did in the previous one.
