Game Threat: Going Streaking! Blue Jays (9-17) @ Yankees (15-9)

Three wins? In a row?! It almost feels like it isn’t 2017! April showers bring May flowers, I’ll tell you what.

News and Scuttlebutt

The sooner these two guys get back the better, obviously. But as I’ve said before, I really hope they don’t rush it, because this season is a marathon, and the last thing we need is for injuries to come back up in June because a guy was thrown back too early. I don’t assume that’s going to happen or anything, but, ya know.

And now, the lineups…

Blue Jays

Mat Latos: 11.0 IP, 3.27 ERA, 7.4 H9, 0.8 HR9, 5.7 BB9, 4.1 SO9

Masahiro Tanaka: 30.0 IP, 4.20 ERA, 8.4 H9, 0.9 HR9, 3.0 BB9, 6.6 SO9

The Jays are walking a tightrope with Mat Latos. We all know the wheels are going to fall off eventually, but hopefully he can continue his success tonight in New York, as the team seems to be finding its groove. Going for the Yankees will be Masahiro Tanaka, who’s settled in after a poor start to the season. He hasn’t been striking as many guys out because he isn’t using his slider, probably because he’s pitching with an arm that’s about to fall off.

Yah as perdicted this game was ^&$^$$$ show out of the shoot for Latoooooooos. To bad really, if the pitching is good the Jays are in it to win it. Lets hope the door does not hit Latos to hard on his way out of town after this game.

I’ll go ahead and say it – I’ve actually enjoyed this season from a pure baseball perspective because it’s been so weird. Truly unusual things keep happening – hell, in the last week alone we’ve had Coughlan’s dive, Goins’ two run sac fly and Bettances throwing a pitch four feet to let in a run. So the Jays aren’t winning – at least the games are anything but boring.

Oh, and time to put the cover on the Grilli, I think.

Teddy you are on the same page with me as how delighted Circus Du Soleil was when scouting the Jays they came up with the gravity defying Chris I can leap over catchers in one bound at home plate. Or old buddy Chavez throwing under hand to help Joey Batts drill a ball out of the park around the 6th hour at that Angels game on the coast. So yes this 2017 Jays team will chill you a little and thrill you a little.

Grilli is horrifically bad right now. In his last five innings pitched, he has given up 9 runs, 7 hits and 6 walks, to go with three home runs. if they keep running him out there, they’ll owe Saltalamacchia an apology for releasing him.

When a pitcher has to GRUNT like crazy to pitch, to me it sounds like he is trying way to hard and could impact his location. Like Latos if you do not locate your fastball (especially if you throw low 90s) it is going to hit out of the park. Location, Location, Location.
