With the Major League Baseball draft coming to an end, the Blue Jays called the name of a familiar player. With their 32nd-round pick in the draft, the Blue Jays have drafted Braden Halladay, son of the late Roy Halladay.
Halladay has already made a commitment to play college at Penn State, so it’s unlikely he ends up signing with the Blue Jays this time around. Maybe they’ll draft him in the future. Who knows.
This selection, poetically coming in the 32nd round to symbolize the number 32 that Roy wore during his legendary career in Toronto, was made in order to give Braden a symbolic connection to his father as he kicks off his baseball career.
