Jace Bohrofen’s first venture into the upper-minors has been a mixed bag.
This is Blue Jays Nation’s annual mid-season prospect list, where we’ll take a look at the 50 best prospects in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. I’ll look at the player’s stats, what other publications have to say, as well as my own observations of the players.
Bohrofen was recently assigned to a rehab stint with the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays. When healthy, he has had a productive 2025 season, despite some flaws in his game. He ranks as our 26th-best prospect in the mid-season update because the potential is still there. If you missed our 27th-best prospect, you can read about Adam Macko here.
Getting to know Jace Bohrofen…
Position: Outfielder
Bats: Left
Born: October 19th, 2001
Acquired: Sixth round, 2023 draft
Previous ranking: 17th (2025 pre-season)
After spending his freshman season at the University of Oklahoma, Bohrofen transferred to the University of Arkansas for his sophomore and junior seasons. He broke out in his collegiate draft year, slashing .318/.436/.612 with 16 home runs in 267 plate appearances, leading the Blue Jays to pick him in the sixth round of the 2023 draft.
The 6’2”, 205 lbs outfielder immediately produced, slashing .299/.443/.636 with seven home runs in 97 plate appearances between the Florida Complex League and Single-A, giving Bohrofen a 182 wRC+ to end the year.
He followed that up with a strong 2024 season with the High-A Vancouver Canadians, slashing .254/.364/.433 with 14 home runs in 485 plate appearances for a 129 wRC+. Moreover, Bohrofen walked 12.4% of the time with a solid 23.7 K%.
As they say, the jump between High-A and Double-A is one of the toughest, and Bohrofen has put up okay results with the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats. In 297 plate appearances, he’s hit 10 home runs and is slashing .213/.301/.399, giving him a wRC+ of 104 thanks to 15 additional doubles.
What’s more concerning is his increased strikeout rate and time missed due to injury. Before the 2025 season, Bohrofen’s highest K% was 24.7%, coming in the 2023 season. That’s a fine K% for the power he produces, but it’s jumped drastically to 32.7% this season. His walk rate has also taken a hit, down from 12.4% to 10.4%, but that isn’t too big of a concern.
Bohrofen only recently returned to game action, as he joined the D-Jays on Thursday, but hasn’t played in Double-A since July 6th. It wouldn’t be surprising if he’s one of several Blue Jays who play in the Arizona Fall League this season.
When healthy, he has good pop and a fringy hit tool. He’ll likely stick to a corner outfield as he continues to progress up the minor league ladder, but he’ll have to cut down his strikeout rate, assuming he repeats the Double-A level in 2026.
