With the beginning of the single-A, high-A and double-A seasons on Friday night, it marked the first day in which every Blue Jays affiliate were in action on the same day. Unfortunately, each of those affiliates lost their games, including the big league club dropping their series opener with the Mets 5-0.
With every prospect in the Blue Jays system now situated on their teams to open the year, let’s take a look at one player at each of the three lower minor league levels that may be in line for a quick jump up a level if they perform well early on in 2025.
Trey Yesavage – SP
Dunedin Blue Jays
Perhaps the most obvious candidate for a quick promotion would be last year’s first-round pick, right-handed pitcher Trey Yesavage. As Blue Jays beat writer Keegan Matheson noted, starting the #2 ranked Blue Jays prospect at Dunedin is mostly about having him avoid the cold weather of the Northwest League, where the high-A Vancouver Canadians play out of.
The former East Carolina Pirate enters his first pro season with a repertoire that is about as polished as can be for a recently drafted player. In his senior season, he went 11-1 with a 2.03 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and a whopping 145 strikeouts over 93 1/3 innings. He also flashed some of his sky-high potential in the Blue Jays’ spring breakout game, where he struck out three batters over two scoreless innings. It may only be a month’s worth of starts in Dunedin before the 21-year-old gets called up to Vancouver.
Adrian Pinto – 2B
Vancouver Canadians
Originally acquired from the Rockies in the trade that sent Randal Grichuk to Colorado, injuries have prevented Pinto from truly taking off as a pro.
The five-foot-six infielder missed large chunks of time in each season from 2022-2024, playing in only 108 games over that three year stretch. However, when he’s been on the field, he’s been able to showcase a potent bat and approach that makes him a natural fit at the top of a lineup. Across just 17 games with Vancouver last year, he slashed .300/.355/.571, while also hitting a key home run in the Northwest League Championship series as well. He continued his strong play in the Arizona Fall League, where he slashed .274/.392/.357, with more walks than strikeouts (14:13).
The Venezuelan infielder is off to a great start in 2025, smashing a homerun in the season opener on Friday night while also collecting three hits through his first eight at-bats. If the 22-year old can stay healthy and continue to hit well, it won’t be long before he’s given his next challenge: a call-up to double-A New Hampshire.

Ryan Jennings, New Hampshire Fishercats

There hasn’t been many pitchers in the Blue Jays organization that have seen their stock rise over the last year like Ryan Jennings has.
Drafted in the fourth round out of Louisiana Tech in 2022, the six-foot right-hander spent his first two years in the organization as a starting pitcher, before one of his rained-out starts strangely led to his conversion to the bullpen with New Hampshire in July. Since the conversion to the bullpen, his numbers were utterly dominant. Over the last couple of months of the year with New Hampshire, he pitched in ten games, compiling an 0.90 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and striking out 12 over 10 innings. He then went to the Arizona Fall League, where he pitched nine scoreless outings, striking out 14 in 10 innings. His excellence continued into big league spring training, producing a 1.93 ERA and five strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings. He was named the Blue Jays Minor League Pitcher of the Year by the Toronto Blue Jays.
The pride of New Braunfels, Texas is off to a great start to his 2025 season, striking out four over two clean innings last night for the Fisher Cats. With more quality work out of the bullpen to start the year, there’s a good chance he is moved up to triple-A Buffalo before long, positioning himself for his big league debut in Toronto this summer.
