Getting your $150 million leadoff guy and your Silver Slugger clean-up hitter is probably a good thing, right? Clearly!
The Blue Jays, loaded with their first fully healthy lineup of the season, kicked the shit out of the Braves on Friday night by a score of 13-5.

Things worth mentioning…

  • That was the first offensive explosion we had seen from the Blue Jays in quite some time. Back a few weeks ago, they smacked the Angels around in a 15-1 win, but, for the most part, the bats have been fairly silent this year. But, as I said, getting George Springer and Teoscar Hernandez back is quite the game changer and both players played a role in Friday’s win. Springer was on base four times and Toescar smashed a three-run homer. Having both of them in the mix makes the top of the lineup insanely potent.
  • There were quite a few performances from up and down the lineup to like. Bo got things going with a two-run homer, Vladdy walked three times, Randal Grichuk and Lourdes Gurriel each hit a solo bomb, and Alejandro Kirk teed off with two bombs of his own. All told, six dingers for the Blue Jays. That’s what you like to see.
  • Finally, Robbie Ray also put together an excellent performance as he was pretty much untouchable through six innings. In the seventh inning, Ray allowed a two-run homer to Ozzie Albies and wasn’t able to finish the frame. But, still, it was a great outing, six-and-two-thirds innings, two earned runs on five hits and, yet again, zero walks. Ray has a 2.78 ERA for the season now.
  • After Ray, Charlie Montoyo brought in Ryan Borucki, which was a bit puzzling given the fact the game was totally out of reach and the Blue Jays appear to have back-to-back bullpen days on Saturday and Sunday. In the ninth, Jordan Romano came into the game and had an encouraging showing, hitting 100 miles-per-hour on the gun. That’s what you like to see after the shaky outing he had after coming off the Injured List.
