The Blue Jays traveled to Baltimore to renew their rivalry with the trash birds over the next three days. J.A. Happ got the ball against promising-ish Orioles righty Dylan Bundy. It was a close game up until the ninth inning, when Curtis Granderson drew a bases loaded walk and then Donaldson blew the game open with a grand slam.
Blue Jays win 7-1 to move to 7-4 on the season.

Things worth mentioning…

  • JA Happ fell into trouble early and then got out of it by striking out a ton of Orioles. The first two hitters of both the first and second reached, and Happ responded by striking out the next three up. Baltimore had ample opportunity to take the lead, but Happ made his pitches and got out of it every time. He finished the day allowing five hits and one earned run over six innings, striking out nine. JAce Happ!
  • Kendrys Morales exited the game early due to a right hamstring strain. Morales coming out meant Solarte came in, and the first baseman was none other than the Bringer of Rain.

  • Steve Pearce drew into the lineup for struggling Randal Grichuk, who got a day off due to general (temporary) shittiness. There was a lot of panic over Pearce playing RF behind a non-groundball pitcher, so obviously he hit a 438-foot two-run home run in the third inning. It looked like that was going to be all the scoring the Jays could muster, until the ninth…
  • This game felt uncomfortably close until a five-run ninth inning where the Blue Jays went walk, strikeout, single, HBP, pop up, walk, HR to put the game out of reach. Also, Grichuk came into the game as a defensive replacement in the 8th and finally ended his 0 for 26 slump with a line drive double to centre.

The Blue Jays are 7-4! Are they #ActuallyGood?
