Another day, another Blue Jay on the Injured List.
Yesterday, it was Matt Chapman going on the shelf with a sprained middle finger. This time, Bo Bichette is going on the 1o-day Injured List with a right quad strain.
Bichette injured his knee back on July 31 in a loss to the Baltimore Orioles and spent over two weeks on the Injured List before getting activated on August 19. Bichette appeared in eight games before leaving Sunday’s loss to the Cleveland Guardians in the sixth inning.
Coming up in Bichette’s place will be Mason McCoy, the player that the Blue Jays got in return when they traded Trent Thornton to the Seattle Mariners. He was added to the 40-man roster with the open spot that was opened on the 40-man roster when Paul DeJong was designated for assignment and released last week.
McCoy was selected in the sixth round of the 2017 draft by the Baltimore Orioles and this is his first time reaching the Major Leagues. The right-hander has slashed a .226/.324/.383 line over 467 plate appearances between Seattle’s Triple-A affiliate and the Buffalo Bisons.
