The Toronto Blue Jays come into Fenway Park on a modest UNDER streak on the betting totals as they face a veteran starting pitcher who has been far from automatic in home starts.
The Blue Jays are the +170 away underdog (bet $100 to win $170) while the Boston Red Sox are a -185 favorite (bet $185 to win $100) with a 10.5-run total on the MLB odds for Monday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
This is slated to be the 10th time this season the Blue Jays have been an away underdog of +150 to +180 on the moneyline and so far they are 3-6 in such contests with the total going OVER five out of nine times. However, the total has gone UNDER in five of the Blue Jays’ last seven games as an away underdog, including the past three.

Boston is just 5-5 in its last 10 games as a home favorite, with the total going OVER six times.
Trent Thornton (3-6, 4.85 ERA, 9.2 strikeouts per innings), who is having a modestly successful rookie season, starts for the Blue Jays on Tuesday. Toronto is 4-5 in Thornton’s nine away starts this season, with the total going 4-4-1 at sports betting sites.
Boston counters on the mound with Rick Porcello (6-7, 5.33 ERA, 7.3 SO/9), who has only been able to lead the Red Sox to a 5-5 record in 10 home starts this season. The total has gone UNDER in five of Porcello’s last eight starts at home.
The Blue Jays have yet to name their starter for Tuesday’s game, when righthander Andrew Cashner (9-3, 3.83 ERA, 6.2 SO/9) will make his first start for Boston after being acquired from the Baltimore Orioles. Cashner has made only two starts at Fenway Park, but has a 2.49 ERA in 50.2 career innings against the Blue Jays.
Aaron Sanchez (3-13, 6.22 ERA, 7.3 SO/9) squares off against lefthander Eduardo Rodriguez (10-4, 4.43 ERA, 9.5 SO/9) on Wednesday. The total has gone UNDER in four of Sanchez’s last six away starts against the Red Sox. Rodriguez has a 4.80 ERA in 69.1 career innings against Toronto.
While the Blue Jays also have not named a starter for the getaway game on Thursday afternoon, the Red Sox will start lefthander Chris Sale (3-9, 4.27 ERA, 12.9 SO). Sale has a 3.07 ERA in 15 career starts against the Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays will complete their 10-game road trip with a three-game series against the Detroit Tigers that begins on Friday.
