While it might come as no surprise that there is an OVER trend when Aaron Sanchez is on the bump for the Toronto Blue Jays, the New York Yankees have been less than devastating this season as a heavy home favorite.
The Blue Jays are the +200 away underdog (wager $100 to win $200) with the Yankees coming back as a -240 home favorite (wager $240 to win $100) with a 10.5-run total on the MLB betting lines for Monday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
The Blue Jays are 2-7 in nine away games this season as a moneyline underdog of +175 or more, and the total has gone OVER in six of those nine contests with two pushes. Interestingly, the Yankees are 10-10 in their last 20 home games as a moneyline favorite of -200 or more.

Toronto is 29-49 on the season, but their last 10 games have had an average total of 11.8 runs, with only two contests finishing with a total under 8. The Yankees, who are an American League East-leading 49-28, are also on a run of high-scoring games, with an average total of 10.8 runs over their last 10 games, only two of which have had a total under 8.
Monday’s starter Sanchez, conversely, is struggling with a 3-9 record and 5.49 earned-run average in 78.2 innings this season. He’s also allowing 5.1 bases on balls per nine innings pitched. The total has gone OVER in six of his last eight away starts where the Blue Jays were underdogs, and his issues with command might contribute to that trend remaining in place.
The Yankees counter with veteran left-hander CC Sabathia, who is 4-4 with a 4.14 ERA in 63 innings this season. It’s his first start of the season against the Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays’ batters, collectively, are 29th in MLB in on-base percentage (.292) and 27th in slugging percentage (.391). The Yankees’ attack is sixth in both OBP (.336) and slugging (.454).
Left-hander Clayton Richard, 0-3 with a 7.46 ERA in six starts this season, is the Blue Jays’ scheduled starter on Tuesday. The Yamkees have not announced a starting pitcher.
Trent Thornton, who is 2-5 with a 4.25 ERA – but has a 2.96 away ERA – starts for the Blue Jays in Wednesday’s series finale. The Yankees will counter with lefthander James Paxton, who is 5-3 with a 3.75 ERA and 78 strikeouts in 60 innings.
The Blue Jays have a travel day Thursday before starting a four-game home series against the Kansas City Royals.
