When a team can claim a pitcher from the 2019 Seattle Mariners, you just have to take the opportunity.
Announced on Tuesday afternoon, the Blue Jays have claimed right-handed pitcher Anthony Bass off waivers.
The 31-year-old has bounced around between organizations the past couple years but found a consistent team with the Mariners this past season. In 2019 through 48 innings pitched, Bass had a 3.56 ERA, 3.90 FIP, and had a 8.06 per nine strikeout rate while walking 3.19 per nine.
In the corresponding move, the Blue Jays have DFA’d  fellow reliever Ryan Dull — who they claimed on waivers not too long ago. Comparing the two pitchers, Bass had a better 2019 and is a fairly easy link to choosing one potential bullpen arm over the other.
With winter steadily approaching, this team will look for making the minute transactions similar to this one, to win more games than they did this year.
Gotta love those minor transactions.
