In this article, we’ll be taking a look at 2022 draftee, Peyton Williams.
Just a quick recap of the mid-season list: We’ll look at the player’s stats, my observations, and finally other publications (Prospects Live, MLB Pipeline, Baseball America)’ scouting reports.

Getting to know Peyton Williams…

Position: First base
Bats: Left
Born: September 14, 2000
Acquired: 7th round, 2022 draft (Blue Jays)
Current Team: High-A Vancouver
Previous Ranking: 39
The 22-year-old first baseman was selected in the seventh round of the 2022 draft and began his season in Single-A in 2023. With the Dunedin Blue Jays, he slashed .274/.370/.476 with seven homers in 192 plate appearances, along with a 10.9 BB% and a 21.4 K%.
Williams earned a promotion to High-A Vancouver, where he has slashed .269/.342/.463 with four homers in just 76 plate appearances, along with a 7.9 BB% and a 28.9 K%. The first baseman hit the injured list in early June and has slashed .314/.400/.490 with an 11.7 BB% and a 20 K% in 60 plate appearances since returning, along with hitting two homers.
The Iowa native is a big man, standing at 6’5, 255 lbs. This helps him generate big power, posting some of the best exit velocities in the Blue Jays organization, including a ball hit at 110.9 mph in spring training.
While Williams won’t hit for .300 in his career, he does a solid job of hitting line drives, as he had a 28.9 line drive percentage in Single-A, which in turn usually means hitting for a solid average. Defensively, he’s a first baseman through and through, and has made some impressive catches in college ball and since turning professional.
Williams is still quite a few seasons away, but he is an intriguing prospect with a big bat who can hit absolute screamers as he rises up the minor leagues.
