Blue Jays righthander Ross Stripling (2-3, 4.71 ERA, 9.2 strikeouts per nine innings) will start opposite righty Garrett Richards (4-4, 3.88 ERA, 8.0 SO/9) in Friday’s matchup. Stripling has a 1.06 ERA across his past three starts, and his teams are 4-2 in his last six away-underdog starts. Richards has a 5.10 ERA in 47.2 career innings against the Blue Jays, and his teams are 6-4 in his last 10 home-favorite starts.
Lefthander Steven Matz (6-3, 4.50 ERA, 9.4 SO/9) will start opposite righty Nick Pivetta (6-1, 3.78 ERA, 10.4 SO/9) on Saturday. Rookie righthander Alex Manoah (1-0, 3.14 ERA, 10.0 SO/9) will start opposite righty Nathan Eovaldi (7-3, 4.11 ERA, 8.7 SO/9) on Monday. The Blue Jays are 3-0 in Manoah’s last three starts. The Red Sox are 4-5 in Eovaldi’s last nine starts at home with the OVER hitting six times. He has a 4.26 ERA in 38 career innings against Toronto.
