Following a huge performance out of Chris Rowley in his MLB debut yesterday, the Jays cruised on to a 7-2 victory. The rookies first win would also tie the series between the Jays and the Pirates. Today the Jays look for not only their second win in a row but their second straight series victory, both of which would obviously help in keeping them in the wild card race.

News and Scuttlebutt

Ryan Tepera has put together a great season in the Jays pen this year and was rewarded with a milestone yesterday.
Hey! Some injury news that isn’t total shit!

And now, the lineups…

Blue Jays

J.A. Happ: 3.77 ERA, 90.2 IP, 9.0 H9, 1.5 HR9, 2.8 BB9, 8.4 SO9

Pirates

Chad Kuhl: 4.53 ERA, 115.1 IP, 9.1 H9, 0.7 HR9, 3.7 BB9, 7.5 SO9
J.A. Happ has been on an absolute roll since returning from the DL at the end of May. The lefty has only allowed more than three earned runs twice in 13 games since that point. He’ll face off against Chad Kuhl, who despite keeping the ball in the park really well this year walks a ton and doesn’t strike out many. Not exactly the recipe for successful pitching. As far as the limiting home run damage goes, the Jays scored seven without a long ball yesterday, so fuck why not do it again.
