Guess who’s back in action tonight? Jays Ace Happ, that’s who. The team getting back to full health! It’s Happ-ening!

News and Scuttlebutt

In other injury news, Dalton Pompey is set to begin his rehab assignment in Dunedin today. Pompey has been injured since the World Baseball Classic with a concussion, and is currently on the 60-day disabled list. I don’t imagine they’ll be rushing him back, considering the Jays will have to dump somebody from the 40-man when he comes off of the DL.
Francisco Liriano will return on Friday, and with that, I’m guessing Mike Bolsinger will be designated for assignment. In terms of position players, the Jays need not worry for now, as Steve Pearce is apparently not close to returning.

And now, the lineups…

Blue Jays

J.A. Happ: 16 IP, 4.50 ERA, 10.1 H9, 2.3 HR9, 0 BB9, 11.3 SO9

Reds

Asher Wojciechowski: (AAA) 25 2/3 IP, 1.40 ERA, 5.6 H9, 0.7 HR9, 2.1 BB9, 10.2 SO9
This is an interesting matchup. Asher Wojciechowski is a former Blue Jays first round pick who was involved in the J.A. Happ trade from Houston back in 2012. He made a couple of appearances with the Astros in 2015, but was let go that following offseason. He’s now in the Reds organization as a depth starter and has been excellent so far in Triple-A. He’s made a couple of relief appearances for the Reds, too, but has a 6.20 career ERA at the major league level.
