Since 2014 the Blue Jays have gone 10-1 against Oakland in the Rogers Centre, and seem to be starting a bit of a roll against them at home once again. As a result, Toronto has a legitimate opportunity to put together a bit of a win streak, and in doing so also clinch a series win tonight. Both of those have been incredibly few and far between lately, so enjoy the crap out of these games when you can.

News and Scuttlebutt

Trade talks continue to swirl around this time of year, and today it surrounded Francisco Liriano. The lefty is currently being linked to Kansas City.
According to Chris Cotillo, Liriano isn’t the only one being talked about in KC. Tonight’s starter supposedly has been brought up in conversations as well.
I guess this is Blue Jays related news as yet another player has the Jays on his no trade list. Having said that Ross Atkins has made it clear that the Jays are only interested in controllable assets, and with Darvish becoming a UFA after this season, he doesn’t fit that mold, so whatever, the feeling is mutual bud.
Finally, make sure to check out the great stuff from Stoeten here on some updates on the Jays system.

And now, the lineups…

Blue Jays

Marco Estrada: 5.52 ERA, 109.1 IP, 9.6 H9, 1.5 HR9, 3.8 BB9, 9.7 SO9

Athletics

Paul Blackburn: 2.88 ERA, 25.0 IP, 7.9 H9, 1.1 HR9, 2.5 BB9, 3.2 SO9
Estrada has really been struggling this year, but hopefully a start against a team second last in the MLB in hits, and bottom five in team OBP is the cure to get him back on track. Oakland answers with rookie Paul Blackburn, making only his fifth career start.
