The Toronto Blue Jays are loading the wagon.
Well, sort of.
After being reinstated from the IL on Monday, Danny Jansen is set to make his return to the lineup, catching for Yusei Kikuchi and batting sixth in the order. Others entering the lineup include Davis Schneider, batting fifth, and Ernie Clement in the seven spot.
Schneider and Clement have both mashed lefties early this season to the tune of 110 and 209 wRC+’s, respectively, and will look to do so again tonight in an important game for the Jays. A win tonight against the Carlos Rodon-led Bronx Bombers would give Toronto their third straight series victory in their series-opening homestand.
The Jays will send Yusei Kikuchi to the mound themselves, who despite a sparkling start to his season, is in search of his first win of the year. He’s struggled against the likes of Gleyber Torres, Aaron Judge and Alex Verdugo, allowing an OPS of .885 or better against all three, so it will be curious to see how he fares.
At the very least, he’ll have reinforcements in the pen, as both Erik Swanson and Jordan Romano have been activated from the injured list and will return tonight.
