Cam Lewis already has a News and Notes from earlier in the day, but lots of things have already happened since.

Most notably, the Phillies have signed superstar shortstop Trea Turner to a massive 11-year, $300-million contract with a full n0-trade clause. Philly had reportedly been in the hunt for Turner since the Word Series wrapped up.

Now, a strong Philadelphia club gets even stronger. The massive deal becomes the fourth-largest free agent contract in baseball behind that of Cory Seager and Manny Machado ($300-million), Gerrit Cole ($324-million) and Philly’s own Bryce Harper ($330-million).

What’s wild is the other shortstops out there still. Carlos Correa, Xander Bogaerts and Danby Swanson could all land deals similar to that of Turner.

The Phillies infield is young, but boy will they be fun to watch. Rookie Bryson Stott will shift to second base and Alec Bohm will remain at third. Over at first will be veteran Rhys Hoskins.

From a Blue Jays’ perspective, the hope is that we see all of these big-name players sign in the National League. Next up, Aaron Judge to San Fran, please!

LOL. Okay, now that I got that out of the way, the New York Yankees re-signed SVP and GM Brian Cashman to a four-year extension through the 2026 season.

The longest-serving GM in Yankees history, he brought four World Series titles, six AL championships and 14 division titles to New York. Despite that, the Yankees have had some real post-season struggles.
