Things worth mentioning…

• Let me tell you, getting updates from TWO Pirates and Blue jays games from the At Bat app at the same time made me a little bit dizzy. Fortunately, since the Jays were absolutely spanking the Pirates at two different locations, it was pretty easy to follow what was going on.
• I’ll talk about the Dunedin game first. Marcus Stroman made his *completely guesses rather than checking* uhhh third start of spring and held the Pirates to just one hit over four innings. Stroman has now *actually checks notes* tossed eight innings so far in 2019, scattering just two earned runs on four hits and a walk. That’s a good sign!
• Brandon Drury went two-for-two with a homer and a single, while, in contrast, Vlad Jr. went zero-for-three with a walk. That’ll make it a lot easier to validate the former starting on the team rather than the latter!
• The home squad Jays would beat the away squad Pirates 5-2, but most of The Good Stuff happened in Bradenton.
• Sean Reid-Foley made his best start of the spring, going four innings without allowing a hit (and, perhaps most importantly just one walk) while striking out four. Prior to today’s start, SRF had allowed five runs over five innings. His breaking ball looked absolutely filthy and his fast ball had excellent command. The big thing for Reid-Foley is control. Everyone knows his stuff is good, but, as we saw during his cup of coffee last year, the wheels can come off quickly if he isn’t pounding the zone.
• Sammy G, Tim Mayza, and Daddy Barnes would combine to toss five more shutout innings for an 11-0 win. All told, the Jays pitchers in Bradenton surrendered just three hits while striking out 11. After a horrendous start to 2019, the Jays are now 7-6!
• It was a Large Adult Son overload in Bradenton, as Anthony Alford smacked two bombs off of Trevor Williams and Billy McKinney, Bo Bichette, and Jonathan Davis picked up bombs of their own off of some Pirates relief pitcher. Alford absolutely murdered the first ball he hit and Bo looked like a veteran taking a breaking pitch over the wall. Enjoy all this Large Adult Son glory:

• Also, in not-so-good news, Dalton Pompey was pulled from the game after fouling a ball off his knee. Hopefully this isn’t serious because Pompey, who has had some bad luck in his career with injuries, has had himself a really nice start to spring training.
