Under the C’s – Alex De Jesus leads Canadians to 13-2 pounding

By joeypitt
5 months agoThe bats came out in a big way for the Vancouver Canadians on Thursday night, and as usual, the South Cambie Crusher was at the centre of it all.
In a weekday evening matchup with the 2nd place Eugene Emeralds (the High-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants), the C’s showed utter dominance on the road in a 13-2 victory. Alex De Jesus(#21 on the Jays Prospects ladder) showed off the yard ball not once but twice in the Vancouver win, starting by going over the left field wall in the top of the 1st to start the party with a three-run drive.
Later, in the top of the 4th inning, De Jesus would step back up to the plate with the bases loaded, knocking out a grand slam for his second homer of the night, and his ninth of the season. De Jesus would finish the night with three hits and seven RBIs. He’s a bad, bad man.
Elsewhere on the scoresheet, Gabby Martinez (#12) airmailed a two-run shot out to the parking lot in the second for his fifth Homer of the campaign, finishing his night with a pair of hits in six at-bats. Estiven Machado (#24) had a pair of hits, Josh Kasevich (#13) had two hits and two RBIs, and Andres Sosa had himself a night, with three hits, two runs, and two RBIs in five trips to the plate.
Vancouver will look to keep the bats booming on Friday, as they’re back at it at PK Park in Eugene for another matchup with the Emeralds, and the start of the second half of the Northwest League Season.
Alex De Jesus is a BAAAAAAAAAAAAD man.
