Angels 8, Blue Jays 1: At least they didn’t blow a lead

At no point in today’s game did the Blue Jays have a lead. In my opinion, getting absolutely spanked by the Angels 8-1 and shut down by Nick Tropeano was a better and less painful outcome that what we experienced on Wednesday.
Things worth mentioning…
- Marco Estrada had a very solid outing against Oakland last week which we assumed was reason for optimism that he was turning his season around. Unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be the case. Estrada got hammered for four earned runs over four-and-a-third innings while collecting just one strikeout. Deck McGuire also came into the game for some mop up innings and allowed three earned runs of his own. It’s safe to say the Revenge Tour isn’t going as planned.
- Did anything good happen today? Uhhhhhh…. Right! Dwight Smith Jr. clubbed his first career Major League homer! Hell yeah! That’s something! Otherwise, the Jays had just five hits as they inexplicably managed to make Nick Tropeano look like not Nick Tropeano.
