The Toronto Blue Jays and starting pitcher Jacob Waguespack take a strong UNDER trend into a matchup against one of the National League’s powerhouses.
The Blue Jays are the +210 away underdog (wager $100 to win $210), while the Atlanta Braves are the -250 home favorite (wager $250 to win $100) with a 9.5-run total on the MLB oddsfor Monday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Interleague away games have been a tough nut to crack this season for the Blue Jays, who are 1-7 in their last eight away games against National League teams. They are also 5-15 in their last 20 away games as a moneyline underdog of +200 or more, according to the OddsShark MLB Database, and nine of the 11 most recent games in that sample have finished UNDER.
Atlanta is 12-4 in its last 16 home games as a favorite of -200 or farther into minus money at betting sites, with the total finishing at an even 8-8.
Both rookie right-hander Waguespack (4-2, 3.93 ERA, 6.9 strikeouts per nine innings) and Atlanta right-hander Mike Soroka (10-3, 2.44 ERA, 6.9 SO/9) are making their second consecutive start against the same team, since the Blue Jays and Braves split a two-game series in Toronto last week.
Waguespack allowed six hits and five runs (three earned) while lasting just three innings on Wednesday, but he has a 2.88 ERA over his last five starts. The total has finished UNDER in four of his last five away starts. Soroka allowed eight hits and two earned runs over six innings last Tuesday and was charged with the loss.
Interestingly, Soroka has a much higher ERA at home (3.90) than on the road (1.44) this season, but the Braves are 7-3 in his last 10 home starts.
The Blue Jays have yet to name a starter for Wednesday’s series finale. If they use the opener strategy and have Wilmer Font (3-3, 4.35 ERA, 9.9 SO/9) work the first inning or two, then it’s worth noting that Font’s teams are 10-4 in their last 14 games he has started when they were the underdog, with the total finishing UNDER 13 times.
Mike Foltynewicz (4-5, 5.59 ERA, 8.2 SO/9) will start for Atlanta, which is just 3-7 in Foltynewicz’s last 10 starts when they were favored at home.
The Blue Jays have an off-day on Wednesday before visiting the Tampa Bay Rays for a four-game series.
