This past week in the Toronto Blue Jays organization split all four of their series.

All four affiliates played four or more games this past week, with all four teams splitting their series. The Buffalo Bisons hosted the Durham Bulls, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats took on the Portland Sea Dogs, the Vancouver Canadians played Spokane, and the Dunedin Blue Jays took on the Jupiter Hammerheads.

Let’s take a look at what went on this past week in the Jays’ minor league system.
<h2>Bisons split series with Bulls</h2>
The Bisons series didn’t start well against the Bulls, as they fell 7-1 to bring their season record to 1-6. They totalled just three hits, with Addison Barger hitting his second double of the season. Jake Bloss had another tough start, giving up four runs (three earned) in his four and two-thirds innings pitched.
Thankfully, the second game of the day went better as the Bisons won 2-1. Although they only had four hits, Steward Berroa hit an RBI double and Christian Bethancourt drove in the other run with a sacrifice fly. Pitching combined for seven innings pitched with one unearned run allowed and nine strikeouts.
The Bisons won their second consecutive game the following day, defeating the Bulls 8-5. Riley Tirotta, Orelvis Martínez, and Rainer Nuñez all went deep while Jonatan Clase hit a double. Michael Stefanic had a three-hit day, and Ali Sánchez had two hits. Lazaro Estrada gave up three earned runs in two innings of work while striking out five. Paxton Schultz easily had the best performance, allowing one hit and striking out six in three innings of work.

In the fourth game, the Bulls bounced back with a 4-1 win. The Bisons registered just three hits, with Barger hitting his second home run of the season. Eric Lauer started the game, pitching five innings with four earned runs. Eric Pardinho pitched two innings with a strikeout.
The Bulls swept the doubleheader, winning the second game 2-1. Once again, the Bisons barely registered any hits, just two, as former Blue Jay Jacob Waguespack picked up the win for the Bisons. Bobby Milacki pitched three innings with no earned runs, while Tommy Nance was tagged with the loss.
In the final game of the series, the Bisons returned to their winning ways with a 5-3 victory to split the series. Stefanic had another three-hit day, hitting a double. Joey Loperfido also hit a double, while Bethancourt and Will Robertson each hit their first home run of the season. Trenton Wallace pitched three innings with two earned runs allowed and six strikeouts. Andrew Bash also pitched three innings, striking out three and not allowing a hit.
This coming week, the Bisons head to Syracuse, New York, to face the Mets in a six-game series.
<h2>Fisher Cats split four-game series with Sea Dogs</h2>
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats also split their series, albeit they only played four games because of a rainout on Sunday. The first game saw them fall 2-1, with Yohendrick Piñango hitting his first home run of the season as the Fisher Cats had four hits. Anders Tolhurst had a strong start, striking out seven and allowing an earned run in five innings of work.
They rebounded with a win in the second game of the series, defeating the Portland Sea Dogs 4-1. Peyton Williams (nicknamed the Iowa Meat Truck) hit his first Double-A home runs, while Dasan Brown had a double. Williams, Jace Bohrofen, and Ryan McCarty all had two-hit games. Devereaux Harrison had a strong start, striking out eight in five innings of work. The bullpen also had a strong outing, striking out eight in four innings of combined work.

Game three, well, that was a different story as the Fisher Cats fell 14-3. All six of the Fisher Cats’ hits were singles, while CJ Van Eyk had a tough start, allowing nine runs (seven earned ) in two and one-third innings. Geison Urbaez gave up five unearned runs in his 2.1 innings, and the bullpen settled down from there. Michael Domignuez had a strong game, striking out five in his 2.1 innings of work.
The Fisher Cats responded nicely in the fourth game, winning 4-3 in extra innings. Robert Brooks hit his first home run of the season, while Charles McAdoo hit his first double. Piñango had a two-hit game thanks to two singles. Rafael Sánchez struck out five, walked three, and gave up two earned runs in his five innings of work. The bullpen didn’t allow a hit in its five innings of work, striking out eight in the process.
This coming week, the Fisher Cats host the Harrisburg Senators for a six-game series.
<h2>Canadians split series with Spokane</h2>
The Blue Jays&#8217; minor league system was committed to playing .500 ball this past week, as the Vancouver Canadians split the series with Spokane. Game one went in favour of Spokane by a score of 8-2, with Aaron Parker hitting the only Canadians’ extra-base hit. Connor O’Halloran had a solid start, striking out four in four innings of work. Irv Carter gave up four earned runs in two-thirds of an inning pitched.
In the second game of the series, the Canadians doubled up Spokane 8-4. Jacob Wetzel hit his first home run in the Jays’ organization, and Adrian Pinto, Arjun Nimmala, and Sean Keys all hit doubles. All four of those players had two-hit games, but Cutter Coffey struck out in all five of his plate appearances. Fernando Pérez made his first High-A start, giving up three unearned runs in four innings of work. Kevin Miranda struck out four and gave up an earned run in three innings of work, and Bo Bonds struck out two in two innings of work.
From a high-scoring game to a low-scoring game, the Canadians fell 1-0 in the third game of the series thanks to a walk-off single. They hit three doubles in this game, one from Nimmala, one from Victor Arias, and one from Alex Stone, but failed to cash them in. Grant Rogers had a strong start, striking out five and pitching six scoreless innings.
The Canadians lost their second in a row the following night, falling 8-6 to Spokane. Keys hit his first High-A home run, and Jay Harry hit his second home run of the season. Arias and Eddie Micheletti Jr. each hit a double as well. Jackson Wentworth had a tough start, giving up five earned runs. Reliever Julio Ortiz was tagged with the loss, giving up three earned runs in an inning and a third.
Thankfully, the C’s got back in the win column with a 9-3 victory on Saturday. Nimmala hit his second home run of the season, as did Pinto, who had a three-hit game. Parker and Micheletti Jr. each hit a double, and Brennan Orf hit a triple. Juaron-Watts Brown had the start, giving up two earned runs in 4.2 innings pitched with six strikeouts.

The Canadians needed a win on Sunday to split the series, and they got just that on Sunday, defeating Spokane 7-1. Micheletti Jr. hit his first High-A home run, Harry, Stone, and Nimmala hit doubles, and Canadian O’Halloran had a solid start, striking out three in two and two-thirds innings. Chay Yeager had an impressive outing from the bullpen, striking out four in two innings of work.
This week, the Canadians play at home for the first time this season, hosting the 4-5 Eugene Emeralds for a six-game series.
<h2>D-Jays also split their series</h2>
Shockingly, the Dunedin Blue Jays also split their series. They won the first game 19-5 in historical fashion, <a href="https://bluejaysnation.com/news/dunedin-blue-jays-break-minor-league-record-with-22-walks">walking 22 times, which is a full-season minor league record</a> since walks started being tracked. Of their nine hits, J.R. Freethy, Yhoangel Aponte, Edward Duran, and Yeuni Munoz all hit doubles, while Tucker Toman hit a triple. Munoz also hit a not-so-needed home run. <a href="https://bluejaysnation.com/news/blue-jays-top-prospect-trey-yesavage-strikes-out-four-walks-six-in-his-first-professional-start">Trey Yesavage made his first professional start</a> in this game as well.
Game two was far less weird, as the D-Jays won that one 7-4. Duran hit his first home run of the season, Canadian Bryce Arnold hit a triple, and Toman had a two-hit game. Colby Holcombe started the game, giving up one earned run and striking out four in four innings of work. Undrafted free agent Javen Coleman struck out five in two and one-third innings, <a href="https://twitter.com/DunedinBlueJays/status/1911833949459951700">en route to the Florida State League’s pitcher of the week</a>.
The third game didn’t go as well, as the D-Jays fell 3-2. In total, they had nine hits with doubles from Alexis Hernandez, Braden Barry, and Aponte, who had a three-hit game. Their second-round pick from the 2024 draft, Khal Stephen, pitched six innings with nine strikeouts and one earned run allowed. Johan Simon struck out five in two innings of work, giving up one earned run. It just wasn’t enough.
And then the Hammerheads won the fourth game as well, defeating the D-Jays 5-4. Arnold hit a home run, and Munoz hit his second double of the season, which accounted for two of their five hits. Daniel Guerra had a tough start, giving up four earned runs and striking out six in four innings of work. Gilberto Batista pitched three innings in this game, giving up an unearned run and striking out a batter.
The Hammerheads got their revenge for the blowout in the first game of the series, thumping the D-Jays 13-6. Brock Tibbitts, Toman, and Manuel Beltre each hit a double, with Beltre accounting for three of the D-Jays&#8217; seven hits. Pitching didn’t have a good day, with Austin Cates giving up five earned runs in two and two-thirds innings. Coleman was the only reliever who didn’t give up an earned run, striking out four in two innings of work.
Thankfully, the D-Jays salvaged a series split with a 10-2 win on Sunday. Beltre and Barry hit a double, Beltre’s fourth. Kendry Chirinos hit a triple, as did Freethy, who had five RBIs on the day. Yesavage looked better in this start, pitching four innings with four strikeouts and one earned run allowed.
