Kicking off the 2026 version of Blue Jays Nation’s Top 25 Canadian baseball prospects list is a newcomer to the professional scene, but a name that many North of the border might already be familiar with.
#25 – Tim Piasentin
Hometown: Maple Ridge, BC.
Organization: Toronto Blue Jays
Draft: 5th round, 2025 (TOR)
Position: Third Base
Bats/Throws: Left/Right
Tim Piasentin was one of the top-ranked Canuck high schoolers heading into the 2025 MLB Draft, and the Toronto Blue Jays decided to keep him North of the border. Slotted at #160 on MLB Pipeline’s draft rankings heading into the Midsummer festivities, Piasentin was destined for Miami before the Jays swooped in and convinced him to turn pro.
Standing at 6-foot-3, the infielder possesses a ton of raw power in the batter’s box and can hit to all sides of the diamond. Piasentin got a ton of experience over the years with the Junior National Team, playing against some of the best talent south of the border in the prep cycle and against pro Dominican players as well. He also suited up for Canada at the 2024 U18 PANAM qualifier, playing alongside current Jays prospects Owen Gregg and Aiden Taggart.

2025 season

Piasentin was a prominent feature on the JNT squad and also suited up for the Okotoks Dawgs in 2025. The Canadians also took a tour in the MLB Draft League last summer, going 6 for 18 (.333) with a double and three walks. He also played well during the JNT spring tour, going 9 for 24 (.375) against the Fort Lauderdale Stars, New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, and Pittsburgh Pirates squads. The B.C. product was also invited to the MLB Draft Combine at Chase Field and ranked 108th by Baseball America heading into the draft.
In the Fall of September 2024, Piasentin was also suiting up at the Canadian Future’s Showcase, where the left-handed bat won the Home Run Derby.
He didn’t see affiliated action following the draft, a move the Jays usually pull with high school players, stashing them in Dunedin while they work out and get reps under the guise of the staff at the Player Development Complex.

Looking ahead to 2026

Piasentin starts the 2026 campaign ranked at #20 on the organizational top prospect list, with scouts raving about his power at the plate and ability to hit against pro players before being drafted.
The likelihood of Piasentin starting his pro career in the Florida Complex League next season is incredibly high, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he follows the same trajectory as fellow Canuck Sam Shaw, which included one full season in Rookie Ball before a promotion to the Single-A/High-A depths in his third year. Piasentin’s calling card is his power and his bat, and the Jays will figure out where he fits on the field as he continues to develop.
