After missing almost two months with left forearm soreness, left-hander Adam Macko has now strung together consecutive scoreless outings while on a rehab assignment with single-A Dunedin, including Thursday’s dominating performance against the Tampa Tarpons — the New York Yankees’ affiliate.
Macko, acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays with reliever Erik Swanson from the Seattle Mariners in the 2022 Teoscar Hernández trade, only allowed a hard-hit single and a walk while striking out seven across four shutout innings. He landed 37 of his 56 pitches for strikes, landing a first-pitch strike to 10 of his 15 batters faced.
The 23-year-old southpaw averaged 91.9 m.p.h. on his sinker and 91.5 on his four-seamer, maxing out at 93.7 with his heater. He induced six total swings and misses on 24 swings, resulting in a 25-per-cent whiff rate.
Adam Macko was solid once again in another rehab start with single-A Dunedin this afternoon.

Of the seven balls put in play against Macko, only two were hit hard (95 m.p.h. exit velocity or higher), including the lone hit he allowed in his fourth and final inning of work. The seventh-round selection from 2019 retired six of the first seven batters he faced to begin the contest, with a fielding error the only blemish against him in that span.
Macko has racked up 12 strikeouts over his last two rehab outings with Dunedin, allowing just a single walk in seven combined innings. Since returning from injury, he’s completed a trio of single-A starts, but he won’t be able to make a fourth with the minor-league Blue Jays since their schedule concludes this Sunday.
As a result, the former Mariners prospect could return to double-A New Hampshire, where he’s made 15 starts this season, pitching to a 4.42 ERA and 3.78 FIP with 86 strikeouts over 77.1 innings. The Fisher Cats’ remaining schedule runs until Sep. 15, likely providing him time to make one final start.
Following an impressive inaugural campaign in 2023, the Blue Jays added Macko to the organization’s 40-man roster last November, protecting the talented lefty from the Rule 5 draft.
