What a past 12 months it’s been for Ernie Clement.
In 2025, he played nearly every regular-season game for the Blue Jays, and he set a new record for most hits in a single postseason. This year, he was selected to Team USA for the World Baseball Classic, and he was the top vote-getter for the American League All-Star Game.
Can it get any better than that for someone who was designated for assignment a few short years ago? Only if you’re immortalized in bobblehead form and get a beer named after you. That’s when you know as a Major League Baseball player that you’ve truly made it big.
Last week, the Buffalo Bisons released their own Ernie Clement bobblehead. Clement had five tours with the Bisons in 2023, bouncing between the majors and minors.
As a Rochester, New York, native, Clement grew up close to Buffalo and surely had a strong hometown contingent in attendance for last week’s Bisons game. Many Blue Jays fans also made the trek down to Sahlen Field to get their hands on this prized giveaway.
But this was not the first Clement bobblehead released this year. In late June, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers — a collegiate summer league team of which Clement is an alumnus — also put forth their own giveaway in honour of their former player.
Clement cemented himself in Scrappers lore by rattling off a franchise-high 21-game hit streak in 2017.

But wait, there’s more! There’s actually a third Clement bobblehead on the horizon, with the Rochester Red Wings saluting their hometown hero with his own bobblehead giveaway on July 28.
While the Red Wings are the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, and Clement never suited up for the organization, he’s practically an honorary Red Wing as a Rochester native.
Clement even has his own “Brighton High School Class of 2014” insignia on the bottom of the bobblehead plaque.
A hometown favorite deserves a hometown giveaway ‼️ Join us July 28 as we celebrate Rochester native Ernie Clement with a bobblehead giveaway for the first 1,000 fans through the gates. 💥 🏟️ ⚾ Get Tickets Here👇 bit.ly/4aigSfp
The first 1,000 fans in attendance will get their own mini Ernie to take home with them, in the pose of his iconic slide into home plate from Game 7 of the 2025 World Series.
Perhaps most impressive of all, the Blue Jays’ second baseman now has his own brew.
Cooperstown, New York-based brewery Ommegang and Clement have teamed up to release a lager called “Upstate Hustle.” This limited release is only available for July, and a portion of the beer’s proceeds will support Challenger Miracle Field of Greater Rochester, via The Beer Connoisseur.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is the new all-time leader in Blue Jays bobblehead stadium giveaways, but at this rate, Clement may soon catch up to Vladdy in the bobblehead department.
To my knowledge, no Blue Jays player has ever collaborated with a brewery on their own beer, so Clement is in a class all his own in the suds department.
