Former Blue Jays fan favourite Munenori Kawasaki may consider future broadcasting career in Canada

There’s a chance we could see Munenori Kawasaki hanging around the Toronto Blue Jays again someday — not as a player, but as a future broadcaster.
The former major league infielder, who played three seasons in Toronto from 2013-15, suggested he may decide to embark on a future broadcasting career in Canada while visiting the country’s embassy in Tokyo, Japan, on Thursday.
Kawasaki, now 42, won a World Series with the Chicago Cubs in 2016. After being released by the team in March 2017, he returned home and played one season with the Nippon Professional Baseball’s Softbank Hawks before retiring at 36.
Though his time with the Blue Jays was brief, Kawasaki provided countless memorable moments over his three seasons north of the border, most notably his infamous post-game interview following the club’s 2015 post-season berth (yes, the Bush Party interview).
He was the always-ready spark plug who kept the positive vibes going for a club that ended its historic playoff drought while capturing its sixth division title, the first since 1993.
Kawasaki’s off-field value was far superior to his on-field, as he slashed .242/.326/.301 with one home run and 43 RBIs across 201 games with the Blue Jays. But he made up for his lack of results with his bubbly, quick-witted personality.
And those traits are precisely why he’d undoubtedly become must-see television if he ever breaks into broadcasting for the next chapter of his post-playing career.
