Add another Biggio to the Houston Astros organization.
Cavan Biggio, son of Hall of Famer and longtime Astro Craig Biggio, has signed a minor league deal with Houston, which includes an invite to big league spring training.
Drafted by the Blue Jays in 2016, Cavan Biggio spent over six years in the big leagues with Toronto, spanning from 2019 to 2024. Biggio was part of the rookie group that included Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette to debut that season, marking a change in the organizational direction that saw a front office put a ton of faith into the up-and-coming youth core.
Across 490 games with the Jays, Biggio amassed a .227/.343/.382 slash line with a .725 OPS. His rookie season was his best campaign in the Majors, where he produced a 113 OPS+ and was a walking machine, finding his way on base 71 times with a .364 OBP.
On June 7, 2024, Biggio was designated for assignment and traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for reliever Braydon Fisher. He would finish the season split between the Dodgers, Giants, and Braves, appearing in 34 games down the stretch.
Biggio signed a minor league deal with the Kansas City Royals for 2025 and made the Opening Day roster. He appeared in 37 games for the Royals, collecting a .543 OPS with two doubles and four RBIs before being designated for assignment at the trade deadline.
The Los Angeles Angels would pick him up shortly after, with Biggio finishing the year in Triple-A Salt Lake.
