Justin Verlander throws a no-hitter against the Blue Jays

It’s been so long since the Blue Jays were candidates to be no-hit what seemed like every single game, but here on the first day of September, Justin Verlander has thrown a no-hitter in the Rogers Centre against the Jays.
With a total of 120 pitches and 79 for strikes, Verlander was able to strike-out a total of 14 batters and walk only one — Cavan Biggio the sole member of the home team to be able to get on base.
But Toronto themselves were able to keep the game stable with some dominant pitching performances of their own. Not close to a no-hitter, but Wilmer Font was able to get 3 Ks and only one single hit allowed through two innings to open the game, then Sam Gaviglio was able to grab three strikeouts as well and no hits or runs allowed through three innings as the post-opener. Even Zack Godley was able to throw three clean two-hit innings.
But the crushing blow came in the top of the ninth with Ken Giles allowing a double to Alex Bregman and then Montreal-born Abraham Toro — with his family in the stands — hit the two-run homer that sealed the victory for the Astros.
Just hold on we're going home 🇨🇦 #TakeItBack
This is Verlander’s third no-hitter of his career and the second against the Blue Jays. Back in May of 2011, as a member of the Detroit Tigers, Verlander was able to get his second no-no of his career with only four strikeouts.
He now becomes the first pitcher in MLB history to throw multiple no-hitters at the same opposing ballpark. If it didn’t sting enough.
The Blue Jays have now been no-hit for the six time in their history, the last one coming just over a year ago with James Paxton’s no-no last May.
