Kevin Gausman was lifted from Sunday afternoon’s game due to a cut on his middle finger on his right hand.
After pitching just three innings, the 31-year-old righty was pulled from the game due to a cut on the middle finger of his pitching hand. Thankfully, it was not a blister, which was the presumption shortly after being pulled.
Thankfully, it just seems as if that it’s a precautionary measure, as this is Gausman’s final start of the season. He is lined up to start in the second wild card game, however, it has been speculated that he should start in the third game. If the Jays sweep the wild card series, Gausman would be lined up to start game one of the American League Division Series.
Perhaps due to the severity of the cut, it may force the Jays’ hand into starting him in the third game if the problem doesn’t clear itself up by October 8th.
Hopefully, this is just a precautionary measure to make sure that Gausman is good to start in the wild card series at some point.
Update: Per Keegan Matheson, the Jays aren’t worried about Gausman. If this happened (or happens) in the post season, Gausman would’ve continued.

As always, you can follow me on Twitter @Brennan_L_D. The last time I did an in-game injury article was when Tim Mayza separated his shoulder, and he came back quite early. Hopefully, it’s the same for Gausman.
