It wasn’t a great day on Saturday for the Blue Jays’ affiliates.
Of the five teams in action, four teams lost, with a win streak snapping in the process. Moreover, a frequently shutout team was shut out once again.
Let’s take a look at that in the latest Minor League Report!

Buffalo’s winning streak ended

The Buffalo Bisons were on a four-game winning streak heading into Saturday’s game, but dropped the game 6-3 to the Syracuse Mets. Buffalo’s second-half record sits at 10-16 now.
Max McDowell hit the team’s only home run, his fifth of the season. Moreover, Luis De Los Santos, Will Robertson, and Alan Roden each hit a double. The only other player with a hit was the rehabbing Isiah Kiner-Falefa. De Los Santos walked twice, while Rafael Lantigua, Riley Tirotta, Gabriel Cancel, Cam Eden and Roden all walked once.
Beau Sulser returned to the Bisons and finished with a line of 5 IP, 3 H, 0 ER (3 R), 3 BB, 2 K to bring his season ERA to 5.82 while being tagged with his seventh loss of the season. Troy Watson gave up two earned runs in his inning of work, while Luis Quiñones pitched three innings with an earned run and three strikeouts.

New Hampshire shut out (again)

On Thursday, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats finally scored a run after 40.2 innings of shutout ball. In their two prior games heading into Saturday, they won both, but once again were shutout 7-0 to the Reading Fightin Phils. Their second-half record now sits at 7-18.
Despite the seven runs given up, Lázaro Estrada had a good start, finishing with a line of 6.2 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K with a home run given up to bring his Double-A ERA to 3.48. Hunter Gregory had a rough outing, giving up three earned runs (four in total) in his third of an inning pitched. Andrew Bechtold pitched a clean inning with a strikeout, while Juan Nunez struck out two and hit a batter in his inning of work.
The good news is that the Fisher Cats weren’t no-hit, as Gabriel Martinez and Josh Kasevich each hit a single. There were no walks in this game, and the team struck out a total of 11 times. Not great.

Vancouver lost their fourth-game of the series

The Vancouver Canadians have been slipping recently, as they fell 5-2 to the Hillsboro Hops to move their second-half record to 18-11 and are three games behind Spokane.
Brennan Orf hit his fifth double of the season, the 11th extra base of the season for him in just 114 plate appearances. Robert Brooks also hit his first triple of the season, while Dasan Brown, Jace Bohrofen, Je’Von Ward, and Jeffrey Wehler each hit a single.
Rafael Sánchez had a good start, finishing with a line of 6 IP, 6 H, 1 ER (4 R), 2 BB, 4 K to bring his season ERA to 4.03. Grayson Thurman was the only reliever the Canadians used, and he gave up an earned run in his two innings of work.

Dunedin survived a late rally

The only Blue Jays’ affiliate to win on Saturday was the Dunedin Blue Jays, who defeated the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels 5-2 to move their second-half record to 14-13.
It was another good start for a Blue Jays starter, as Nolan Perry finished with a line of 5 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 8 K, arguably his best start of his young career. This season, he has a 1.96 ERA. Irv Carter continued his effectiveness out of the bullpen, finishing with a line of 3.1 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K to bring his season ERA to 3.18. Julio Ortiz struck out a batter in two thirds of an inning.
Nate LaRue had the team’s only extra-base hit, his third double of the season. Adrian Pinto drove in two runs with a single and walked once, while Jaden Rudd, Robert Robertis, and Drew Jemison each had a single.

DSL Jays lost two straight

The weird streaky season for the Dominican Summer League Blue Jays continued on Saturday, as they fell 2-1 to the DSL Angels to bring their season record to 21-16. They lost their first two games, went on a nine-game winning streak, lost their next eight games, before a seven game winning streak.
All six hits the team had were singles, as Pascual Archila, Rafael Flores, Angel Guzmán, Randy Soto, Dariel Ramon, and Esmeiquel Arrieche each had a single. Moreover, Franklin Rojas drew two walks.
Pitching was solid for the DSL Jays, as starter Angel Rivero finished with a line of 5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER (2 R), 1 BB, 4 K to bring his season ERA to 6.14. Ismauri Bueno struck out two in his three innings of work to bring his season ERA to 1.50. Edgar Gallegos pitched a scoreless inning, striking out a batter while allowing a hit and a walk.
