It’s too little, too late, but the Buffalo Bisons are rolling.
If you’re wondering what happened in the Championship Series to the Vancouver Canadians, I wrote a standalone article which you can read here.
In this article, we’ll look at some storylines regarding the Buffalo Bisons’ game on Saturday, as well as a brief look at the Fisher Cats’ penultimate game of the season.

Buffalo won their fourth straight game

On Saturday, they defeated the Gwinnett Stripers 4-1 to win their fourth straight game and move their second-half record 30-37.
The biggest storyline from this game is that Bo Bichette looks great with the Bisons since joining them on a rehab assignment. In the top of the seventh, he hit his first double of the season in Buffalo to give the team a 2-1 lead, which ended up being the game-winning run.
In his four rehab assignments this season, Bichette is slashing .286/.286/.357 with a hit in each of the four games. Bichette hasn’t played in the big leagues since July 19, and hasn’t been a regular member of the lineup since July 10.
It’s been a rough season for Bichette this season. On top of two different stints on the 10-day Injured List thanks to a calf issue, he’s slashing .222/.275/.320 with four home runs in 331 plate appearances for a 69 wRC+, by far the worst of his career.
For context, his career slash line sits at .290/.332/.466 with 93 home runs in 2659 plate appearances, along with a 120 wRC+ and a 16.1 fWAR (he only has a 0.2 fWAR this season.) Hopefully, he’ll be able to slightly improve his stats if he’s activated by the Blue Jays. Don’t be surprised if we get the old Bo Bichette for the Jays in 2025.
The next batter up after Bichette in the top of the seventh was Alan Roden, who hit his ninth home run for Buffalo and his 16th of the season. Roden has been nothing short of terrific this season, as he’s slashing .320/.407/.515 since joining the Bisons, along with nine home runs.
His previous career-best was last season when he hit 10 home runs between High-A and Double-A. Roden could impact the 2025 Blue Jays, as the power development is an encouraging sign.
As for the Bisons hitters, Josh Kasevich had the team’s other double and was the only Bison with a multi-hit game. Stewarts Berroa, Orelvis Martinez, Jonatan Clase, and Rafael Lantigua all hit singles. Roden, Phil Clarke, and Damiano Palmegiani walked once each.
Trenton Wallace started the game for the Fisher Cats, finishing with a line of 5 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 K to bring his ERA in Triple-A to 5.01. Luis Quiñones picked up his 11th win of the season (he’s 11-0), pitching a scoreless inning with a walk and a strikeout. Braydon Fisher picked up the hold with a scoreless inning, as did Hayden Juenger, who had two strikeouts. Hagen Danner pitched a scoreless inning for his seventh save of the season.

New Hampshire fell 3-1

It’s been a trend for the Fisher Cats this season, losing the game while only hitting singles. Charles McAdoo and Gabriel Martinez each had two singles, while Dasan Brown, Yohendrick Piñango, and Josh Rivera all reached base with the single. The Fisher Cats struck out 15 times in this game.
Michael Dominguez had a tough start, giving up three earned runs, four walks, and four strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched. Hunter Gregory struck out four in 2.1 innings pitched, while Ryan Boyer and Andrew Bechtold each pitched a scoreless inning.
