The Toronto Blue Jays affiliates didn’t have a great day on Wednesday.
Four teams were in action, with only one team winning their game. Sadly, it wasn’t the Vancouver Canadians that won their game, as they’re the only team with a reasonable chance of making the postseason.
Let’s dig into all of that in the latest Minor League Report!

Buffalo lost their second straight game

The Buffalo Bisons fell 5-2 to the Omaha Storm Chasers on Wednesday afternoon, bringing their second-half record to 19-28.
Luis De Los Santos continued to hit the ball well in Triple-A, as he hit his sixth-home run of the season for the team’s only extra-base hit. Moreover, Jonatan Clase, Rafael Lantigua, and Josh Kasevich each had a single, with the latter walking twice.
Trenton Wallace made the start, finishing with a line of 3.1 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 5 BB, 3 K to bring his Triple-A ERA to 6.46. Luis Quiñones was the first out of the bullpen, giving up two earned runs in two and two thirds innings. Hagen Danner, Luis Frías, and Hayden Juenger all pitched a scoreless inning.

New Hampshire fell 1-0 in a five-inning game

After five innings played, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats’ game was rained out, with the Hartford Yard Goats officially winning 1-0. The Fisher Cats now have a 16-29 record for the season.
Not a whole lot happened in this game, I don’t even need a separate paragraph for batters and pitchers. Charles McAdoo and Ryan McCarty had the team’s two hits, both singles. Michael Dominguez had the start, finishing with a line of 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K to bring his season ERA to 4.61.
New Hampshire’s struggles have been well documented this season, and they’re 15 games back of the division leaders.

Vancouver lost a late lead

The only Blue Jays’ affiliate with a legitimate shot to make the postseason is the Vancouver Canadians, who fell 7-6 to the Everett AquaSox on Thursday. Spokane also lost, meaning that the Canadians are still just one game back of the second-half division leaders with a 30-20 record.
For the second straight game, Jace Bohrofen hit a home run, his 11th of the season. Moreover, he had four of Vancouver’s nine hits in this game. Jackson Hornung hit his 19th double of the season, while Peyton Williams, Je’Von Ward, Jacob Sharp, and Alex Stone each hit a single.
Juaron Watts-Brown had a good start, finishing with a line of 6 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K with two home runs given up to bring his High-A ERA to 5.25. However, Vancouver’s bullpen struggled, as Chay Yeager gave up an earned run in his inning of work, Bo Bonds gave up three earned runs in a third of an inning, and Alex Amalfi gave up an earned run (and four strikeouts) in an inning and two thirds.

Dunedin now 25-23

The Dunedin Blue Jays aren’t completely out of the race for the division lead, as they defeated the Clearwater Threshers 9-5 on Wednesday to bring their second-half record to 25-23. However, they are 5.5 games behind the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels and don’t have another series against the division leaders. There are just 17 games left this season.
Arjun Nimmala has been a man on a mission since returning from the development list. On Wednesday, he hit his 14th home run in Single-A as well as his 15th home run overall. He had a two hit performance, as did Nick Mitchell, Braden Barry, and Sean Keys, who hit his first professional triple. Other players with a hit were Eddie Micheletti Jr., Edward Duran, and Carter Cunningham.
Cristopher Castro had the start for the D-Jays, and he finished with a line of 4 IP, 5 H, 1 ER (2 R), 2 BB, 2 K to bring his Single-A ERA to 5.40. Christian Mracna was the first out of the bullpen, walking two batters in a scoreless inning, while Luis Torres finished the game with a line of 4 IP, 6 H, 2 ER (3 R), 1 BB, 4 K to bring his ERA to 3.32 with the D-Jays.
