The New Hampshire Fisher Cats played their final game on Sunday.
Only two teams were in action on Sunday, as the Vancouver Canadians season wrapped up on Saturday with a heartbreaking loss. It was the final game of the year for the Fisher Cats, while the Buffalo Bisons have one more week left this season.
Let’s dig into that in the latest Minor League Report!

Buffalo’s win streak was snapped

The Buffalo Bisons’ hopes of finishing .500 in the second-half ended on Sunday, as they fell 6-2 to the Gwinnett Stripers, moving their second-half record to 30-38 with six games remaining.
Josh Kasevich has become a prospect worth watching because he may impact the big league team sooner rather than later. On Sunday, he hit his second home run in Triple-A and his third of the season, a new career-high. He also leads the system with 27 doubles. Speaking of doubles, Damiano Palmegiani hit his 17th of the season, while Jonatan Clase, Riley Tirotta, and Nick Raposo each hit a single.
Starting the game for the Bisons was Jake Bloss, who had another rough outing. He allowed four runs (three earned) in 4.2 innings pitched, along with a walk and four strikeouts. Paxton Schultz allowed an earned run and struck out two in an inning and a third and Emmanuel Ramírez allowed an earned run and struck out a batter in an inning of work. Brandon Eisert pitched a scoreless inning, striking out a batter to bring his season ERA to 3.86.

New Hampshire ended the season with a loss

The tough season for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats ended on Sunday, as they fell 5-1 to the Somerset Patriots. They finished the second-half with a 22-46 record, 21 games behind the Patriots for first place. Moreover, they finished with a 52-84 season record, ouch.
For the second straight game, the Fisher Cats finished with one run and only hit singles, three to be exact. Eddinson Paulino had a hit, as did Yohendrick Piñango and Dasan Brown, with the latter two walking once each. Overall, the Fisher Cats struck out 12 times with four walks.
Kevin Miranda had a similar start to Bloss, pitching 4.2 innings with four runs (three earned). The only difference is he gave up six hits (Bloss gave up five), while Miranda also walked two and struck out two. Anders Tolhurst was the first out of the pen, striking out three but giving up an earned run in an inning and a third. CJ Van Eyk pitched two innings with two strikeouts.

What’s next?

Next week, only the Buffalo Bisons will be playing baseball in the Blue Jays system. Thankfully, there are six Minor League Reports remaining, and in each of those reports, we’ll recap the Bisons’ game as well as one of the affiliate teams. Starting Wednesday, we’ll look at the Dominican Summer League Blue Jays!
