It’s been a rough season for the Toronto Blue Jays and their affiliates.
On Thursday, the six affiliates in action went 3-3. New Hampshire scored a run after a long scoreless drought, the Dominican Summer League Jays can’t be stopped, and Buffalo won in walk-off fashion.
Let’s dig into all that in the latest Minor League Report!

Buffalo defeated Syracuse

Buffalo hasn’t been good in the second-half, as they have a league-worst 9-15 record, even after their 5-4 walk-off win against the Syracuse Mets on Thursday.
Miguel Hiraldo hit the team’s only extra-base hit, his second double with the Bisons, while also posting a three-hit game. Rafael Lantigua also had a three-hit game, while Brian Serven had a two-hit performance. Damiano Palmegiani and Max McDowell each had a single.
Starting the game for the Bisons was Paolo Espino, who finished with a line of 4 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K to bring his season ERA to 5.09. Eric Pardinho’s Triple-A struggles continued, as he gave up three earned runs in two innings. José Cuas recorded the win, pitching two innings with a strikeout, while Zach Pop picked up the save in a clean inning.

New Hampshire finally scored a run

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats didn’t score a run in 40.2 innings, going all the way back to last Saturday. Well, they scored on Thursday and even defeated the Reading Fightin Phils 5-4 in walk-off fashion. Still, they have an Eastern League worst 5-17 record.
With 13 hits in the evening, the Fisher Cats had to score. Ryan McCarty hit his eighth double at the level, and was scored when Andrés Sosa hit his first triple of the season. The former had a three-hit performance, while the latter had two hits.
Gabriel Martinez also had two hits, as did Cade Doughty and Rainer Nuñez. There was no bigger hit in the game than Garrett Spain’s single, as he gave the Fisher Cats their first win since Friday last week. Alex De Jesus also had a single.
Devereaux Harrison made the start for the Fisher Cats, finishing with a line of 6 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 0 BB, 4 K with a home run given up. Hunter Gregory struck out a batter in a clean inning of work, while Anders Tolhurst struck out a batter in two scoreless innings.

Vancouver blown out

The Vancouver Canadians are starting to slip, as they lost their third consecutive game on Thursday, falling 13-4 to the Hillsboro Hops. In their last 10, they are 3-7.
Dasan Brown had the biggest hit of the game for the Canadians, hitting his career-high eighth home run of the season. Nick Goodwin hit his 11th double of the season and had a multi-hit game, while Jace Bohrofen also hit a double, his 20th of the season. Brennan Orf hit his third triple of the season, while Jackson Hornung hit his first triple. Jeffrey Wehler had two singles, while Peyton Williams had one.
The bats had a solid game, but Canadian Connor O’Halloran didn’t, as he gave up 11 earned runs and six walks in two innings pitched. Just got to shake that one off. Rafael Ohashi pitched three scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Naswell Paulino also pitched three innings, giving up two unearned runs and three strikeouts.

Dunedin fell below .500

Dunedin’s good start to the second-half has all but evaporated, as they fell 6-2 to the Fort Myers Mighty Mussles, giving them a 12-13 record, along with a four-game losing streak.
It was a quiet day for their bats, as Yhoangel Aponte hit two singles, while Manuel Beltre, Edward Duran, Robert Robertis, and Jean Joseph each had a single. Cristian Feliz picked up the team’s only walk.
Grant Rogers made the start for the D-Jays, finishing with a line of 5.2 IP, 4 H, 1 ER (2 R), 2 BB, 3 K with a home run given up for a season ERA of 4.26. J.J. Sanchez gave up two earned runs, four in total, in his two thirds of an inning pitched. Nate Garkow had a great outing, striking out six over two innings and two thirds.

FCL Jays ended their season with a loss

The bad news is that the Florida Complex League Blue Jays lost 8-4 to bring their season record to 12-44. The better news is that their season is over.
Interestingly, Adrian Pinto has been working his way back this past week, and he hit his first home run of the season on Friday, along with his third double in just five games. Nate LaRue is also rehabbing and hit a double. For their remaining three hits, Enmanuel Bonilla, David Guzmán, and Carlos Vasquez each hit a single.
The rehabbing Kevin Miranda made the start for the FCL Jays, finishing with two earned runs given up in two innings and a third. Lluveres Severino gave up an earned run in two thirds of an inning pitched. Cristopher Castro pitched three innings, giving up an earned run and four walks, while Raudy Gomez gave up four earned runs in two thirds of an inning. Franly Urena pitched a third of an inning, striking out a batter.
Thus, the FCL Jays’ season has concluded with a league worst (including the Arizona Complex League) 12-44 record.

DSL Jays won seventh-straight game

From one rookie team that had an abysmal 2024, to another one that has been streaky as all hell. The Dominican Summer League Jays defeated the DSL Arizona Red 26-10 to bring their record to 21-14, winning seven consecutive games.
Pascual Archilla hit his first professional home run, a good sign for the 17-year-old outfielder. Yorman Licourt hit his sixth double of the season , while Angel Guzmán hit two doubles in this game. Both Licourt and Guzmán had two hits, while Rafael Flores had a three-hit performance. Endry Reyes had the team’s other hit.
Pedro Tucent made the start, finishing with a line of 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K to bring his season ERA to 5.06. Victor Espiritu pitched three innings with two strikeouts, while Ramon Suarez picked up the save in a clean inning.
