The Toronto Blue Jays affiliates should get some reinforcements in the coming weeks.
And oh boy, do they need it, as the six affiliate teams went 2-3-1 on Tuesday. One team was no-hit, another team was shutout for the second straight game. On the positive side of things, one team picked up a win in walk-off fashion, while another team is on a six-game winning streak.
Let’s dig into all of that in the latest Minor League Report!
Buffalo walks it off
The Buffalo Bisons lost a large chunk of their roster thanks to prospects being called up, and in turn, they have a 7-15 record in the second half. However, they were able to walk off the Syracuse Mets on Tuesday, who are tied for the division lead.
Riley Tirotta did Riley Tirotta things, hitting a three-run shot for his 10th home run as a Buffalo Bison, and his 13th home run in total. Alan Roden had a two-single performance, while Rafael Lantigua, Luis De Los Santos, and Cam Eden each had a hit.
Aaron Sanchez had the start and it was solid, as he finished with a line of 5 IP, 5 H, 3 ER (4 R), 3 BB, 4 K with a home run given up to bring his season ERA to 9.12. Paxton Schultz pitched an inning and two-thirds, giving up an earned run, a walk, and a strikeout. Brandon Eisert had the exact same line, except he pitched an inning and a third.
Yerry Rodríguez pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts, while Hayden Juenger picked up the win thanks to pitching a clean inning.
New Hampshire shut out for the third consecutive game
Things haven’t been going well for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in the second half, as they are on a three-game losing streak, and haven’t scored once in those games. They are already 10 games behind the division leaders and are 1-9 in their last 10.
Devonte Brown hit his 12th double of the season and had a multi-hit game, while Alex De Jesus hit his 13th double of the season. Gabriel Martinez had two singles, with these three players accounting for the team’s five hits.

CJ Van Eyk had the start and did enough to give the Fisher Cats a fighting chance, as he finished with a line of 6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K to bring his season ERA to 6.69. Dahian Santos pitched well out of the bullpen, striking out four and walking one in an inning and two-thirds. Adrián Hernández struck out a batter in his inning and a third of work.
Vancouver couldn’t overcome the big inning
After a hot start to the second half, the Vancouver Canadians are 5-5 in their last 10, and lost 4-2 to the Hillsboro Hops on Tuesday. They are currently two games behind Spokane, who also won the first half.
Dasan Brown matched a career-high (sort of) in home runs, hitting his seventh home run of the season which opened the scoring in the top of the third. His actual career-high is nine home runs, as he hit three postseason home runs in 2022.
The team’s other extra-base hit came from 6’5”, 255 lb Peyton Williams who hit a triple. This wasn’t the first of his professional career, though. Williams had two hits, as did Nick Goodwin who had two singles. Jackson Hornung, Robert Brooks, and Jeffrey Wehler each had a single.
6'5", 255 lbs Peyton Williams hit his second-career triple last night. His return to the lineup has helped turn the Canadians' season turnaround.
Pat Gallagher made the start and had a rough outing, finishing with a line of 2.2 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 1 K to bring his season ERA to 4.84. Alex Amalfi had a great outing from the pen, striking out seven in three innings and third to bring his season ERA to 2.66. Aaron Munson struck out four in two innings of work.
Dunedin no-hit in six innings
The Dunedin Blue Jays fell 2-1 and were no-hit in six innings thanks to rain. With the loss, they have a 12-11 record in the second half, four games behind the leaders of the division.
Ryan Watson pitched a quality start for the D-Jays, finishing with a line of 6 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K to bring his season ERA to 3.86. He was the only pitcher for Dunedin.
You may be wondering how the D-Jays scored without a hit, a totally fair question. Cristian Feliz walked with two outs, stole second base, and scored on a throwing error from second, giving the Blue Jays the lead at the time.
No-hitters are rare. You want to know what's even rarer? No-hitters where the team being no-hit scores. Last night, the Dunedin Blue Jays did just that, granted it was only a six-inning game.
Baseball is weird sometimes.
FCL Jays tied
Yes, the Florida Complex League didn’t win or lose, as they tied the FCL Tigers 1-1 after six innings. The weird baseball continues.
Canadian Sam Shaw hit his sixth double of the season, while David Guzmán hit his fifth double of the season. That was it for base runners for the FCL Jays in this game, aside from an Aneudi Escanio walk.
Daniel Guerrea had a solid start, striking out six in four innings of work while giving up an earned run. Luis Torres continued his good season, striking out three batters in two innings of work to bring his season ERA to 2.17.
DSL Jays won their sixth straight
The Dominican Summer League Blue Jays’ season needs to be studied. With a 3-1 win over the DSL Nationals, their record now moves to 20-14, and they’re in the midst of a six-game winning streak. This is their third lengthy streak of the season, as they also had a nine-game winning streak and an eight-game losing streak.
Randy Soto had two hits, both of which were doubles. David Beckles also had a double, his second of the season. Dariel Ramon and Jarold Montealto had the DSL Jays’ two other hits. On top of that, the team walked nine times, with Soto, Yorman Licourt, and Endry Reyes each walking twice.
Silvano Hechavarría had a phenomenal start, pitching seven innings with three hits, one earned run, one walk, and two strikeouts to bring his season ERA to 2.48. Diego Dominguez picked up his third save, walking two batters and striking out two in two-thirds of an inning.
