Wednesday wasn’t a great day for the Blue Jays organization.
There were four affiliate teams in action, with three of the four teams losing. Thankfully, the team that won was the Vancouver Canadians, who are close to making their third consecutive Northwest League Championship Series.
Let’s dig into all of that in the latest Minor League Report!
Buffalo lost 14-8
Buffalo’s tough second-half continued, as they fell 14-8 to the Durham Bulls to move their second-half record to 21-32. They are on a three-game losing streak.
There’s some good from this game though, as Alan Roden hit his sixth home run with the Bisons, while Riley Tirotta hit his 12th home run of the season. Moreover, Josh Kasevich had two doubles and a three-hit game, while Rafael Lantigua had a two-single performance. Other players with a hit were Nathan Lukes, Will Robertson, and Phil Clarke.
Jake Bloss had a rough start for the Jays, giving up eight earned runs in an inning and two thirds. Paxton Schultz gave up an earned run with three strikeouts in 1.2 innings pitched, while Braydon Fisher gave up three earned runs and two strikeouts in an inning and a third.
Eric Pardinho pitched a scoreless inning and a third, striking out a batter. Brandon Eisert struck out two in his clean inning, but Hagen Danner gave up two earned runs in two thirds of an inning pitched. José Cuas pitched the final third of an inning.
New Hampshire doubled up
Like the Bisons, it has been a tough second-half for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, as they fell 8-4 to the Altoona Curve, bringing their second-half record to 18-34.
Garrett Spain hit his 10th home run of the season, while RJ Schreck, Michael Turconi, and Charles McAdoo each hit a double. Schreck already has seven doubles with the Fisher Cats this season. Turconi had a three-hit game, while McAdoo had two hits. The other player with a hit was Alex De Jesus, who hit a single.

Lazaro Estrada had a rough start, giving up five earned runs in his three innings pitched to bring his Double-A ERA to 4.22. Nick Fraze allowed two earned runs in two innings pitched, while Adrián Hernández gave up an earned run in his two innings of work. CJ Van Eyk had the only scoreless outing for the Fisher Cats.
Vancouver won an important game
The Vancouver Canadians are the only Jays’ minor league team with a realistic chance to make the postseason. On Wednesday, they won 10-5 against the Hillsboro Hops, giving them a seven-game lead over the Mariners affiliate.
Peyton Williams hit his 11th home run of the season, while trade deadline acquisition Jay Harry hit his fourth home run with the Canadians. Both players also had a double, while Nick Goodwin and Jackson Hornung also hit a double. Hornung had three hits while Goodwin also had a two-hit performance. The other players with a hit were Jace Bohrofen, Je’Von Ward, and Brennan Orf.
Here's Peyton Williams' 11th home run of the season from last night!
Juaron Watts-Brown started the game for the Canadians, striking out six and allowing three earned runs in five innings of work, along with three walks. Alex Amalfi struck out six over two and two thirds innings, while Kai Peterson picked up the save, striking out a batter and allowing an earned run in an inning and a third of work.
Dunedin lost in eight innings
The Dunedin Blue Jays fell 4-2 to the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Wednesday in eight innings, bringing their second-half record to 28-27. They are currently six and a half games back of first place in the division.
Eddie Micheletti Jr. had his best professional game to date, as he hit his sixth double of the season and had a three-hit game. Aaron Parker also hit his sixth double of the season, while Carter Cunningham, Nick Mitchell, Manuel Beltre, and J.R. Freethy each had a single.
Three hours in between pitches? No problem for Eddie Micheletti. Mick pounces on the first pitch out of the delay for an RBI single.
Dunedin used six pitchers in this game, with the rehabbing Trent Palmer starting the game, walking two batters in his inning and a third of scoreless baseball. Nate Garkow pitched two thirds of an inning with a strikeout, while Jonathan Todd struck out two in his inning of work.
Julio Ortiz walked and struck out four while giving up an earned run in his two innings of work. Yondrei Rojas was tagged with the loss, giving up two runs (one earned) in two innings pitched with five strikeouts. Lastly, Bennett Flynn pitched a clean inning.
