It was an okay day for the Blue Jays organization, aside from the big league team being swept for the second straight series.
All four “A” affiliates were in action, with the four teams going 2-2 on Saturday. There was a gigantic comeback, a 1-0 shut out, while a team was blown out as well.
Let’s dig into the latest Minor League Report!

Buffalo blown out

After defeating the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 21-10 on Saturday, the Buffalo Bisons were blown out 18-9 to bring their record to 37-37.
However, Will Robertson hit his fourth home run of the series and his 11th overall. He’s been very streaky this season, but the power is real. Hopefully, he can finish the season strong. Robertson was also one of two players with a multi-hit game, as Phil Clarke had two singles.
Alan Roden hit his eighth home run of the season, as well as his first career Triple-A home run. His career-high in homers came in 2023 when he had 10 in 532 plate appearances. If he is to finish with exactly the same number of plate appearances, he’s on pace for 16 homers.
Other players with a hit were Rafael Lantigua and Riley Tirotta, the latter had a two-home run performance in Saturday’s game.
Pitching wasn’t great for the Bisons though. Brandon Eisert started the game, giving up an earned run and three strikeouts in two innings. Paxton Schultz gave up an earned run in an inning, while Hayden Juenger pitched a clean inning.
Erik Swanson’s struggles continued, as he gave up six earned runs in a third of an inning pitched, while Nick Fraze also gave up six earned runs in two thirds of an inning. Ryan Burr pitched, but threw 0.0 innings.
Mason Fluharty briefly got the bullpen on track, throwing the only clean inning of the game while striking out a batter. Luis Quiñones allowed three earned runs in his inning of work, while Beau Sulser allowed an earned run in his inning.

New Hampshire lost again

Like the Bisons, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats also lost, falling 5-3 to the Reading Fightin Phils to bring their season record to 30-38.
Miguel Hiraldo, Zach Britton, and Josh Kasevich each had a double, with the latter hitting his 14th of the year. Britton was the only player with a multi-hit game, while Alex De Jesus, Rainer Nuñez, Devonte Brown, and Gabriel Martinez all reached on singles.
Michael Domginuez had the start, and it was a rough one as he finished with a line of 4.2 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 5 K to bring his season ERA to 4.52. Adrián Hernández was the first out of the pen, striking out three in an inning and a third. Anders Tolhurst struck out three in two innings, while Justin Kelly struck out a batter in his inning of work.

Vancouver won 1-0

It was a low-hit, low-score affair for the Vancouver Canadians, as they defeated the Tri-City Dust Devils 1-0 to bring their second half record to 3-0.
Rafael Sánchez had the best start of his career, striking out 12 batters and allowing three hits in seven innings pitched. That’s the most strikeouts I’ve seen from a Canadians pitcher, maybe even Blue Jays minor leaguer, since I started covering this team in 2021.
Conor Larkin continues to pitch well out of the pen, striking out two in his inning of work to bring his season ERA down to 1.06. Grayson Thurman also struck out two in an inning of work.
Jace Bohrofen hit the team’s only extra-base hit, his 15th double of the season. Peyton Williams drove in a run with a single, while Jackson Hornung also hit a single. Jamari Baylor, Williams, De’Von Ward, and Dylan Rock reached with a walk.

Dunedin sparked a late comeback

It wasn’t pretty, but the Dunedin Blue Jays defeated the Daytona Tortugas 10-8 thanks to seven runs in the seventh and the eighth to win in comeback fashion.
The only home run hit by a D-Jays was by Yeuni Munoz, who hit the ball with an exit velocity of 105.1 mph that went 424 feet. It was his first home run of the season. Victor Arias, Cade Doughty, Munoz and Tucker Toman each had a single, while Edward Duran and Manuel Beltre had two singles.
Nolan Perry made the start and struggled with command. He finished with a line of 3 IP, 2 H, 2 ER (3 R), 6 BB, 6 K to bring his season ERA to 1.93. Keiner Leon struck out a batter in his inning of work, while the rehabbing Dahian Santos allowed three earned runs in an inning and two thirds.
Irv Carter gave up two unearned runs in two innings of work, but struck out a batter to bring his season ERA to 3.51. Kai Peterson continues to strike out a boatload of batters, this time striking out three in an inning and a third.
