We don’t yet know the long-term ramifications of Roberto Osuna’s legal issues, but, in the short-term, he’s been placed on Administrative Leave while righty Jake Petricka has been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo. Also, Aledmys Diaz, who was injured over the weekend in Tampa Bay, has been placed on the 10-day disabled list while Richard Urena has also been brought up from Buffalo.
RHP Roberto Osuna has been placed on administrative leave. RHP Jake Petricka has been recalled from the @BuffaloBisons.
“MLB takes all allegations of this nature very seriously,” the league said in a statement. “We are investigating the circumstances and have placed Roberto Osuna on Administrative Leave in accordance with the Joint MLB-MLBPA Domestic Violence Policy.”
Again, we don’t know where this is going to go, but in the short-term, we have Petricka on the roster rather than Osuna. I would imagine Seung-hwan Oh would slide into the closer role at this point, but it could easily be John Axford or Tyler Clippard as both have been successful this season and, like Oh, have experience closing games.
Petricka has pitched 1 1/3 innings with the Jays this season, surrendering one run on three hits. He’s allowed just one earned run in eight innings with Buffalo this season. Urena was injured coming out of Spring Training and, through nine games in Single- and Triple-A, is slashing a .143/.162/.143 line.
