For the past eight years, MLB Trade Rumours has put out projections of what players will earn in arbitration. The Blue Jays have 11 players who can go to arbitration…

Most of these will get sorted out before arbitration rolls around, of course, and some players might not be around long enough for it to matter. Yangervis Solarte is a prime candidate to have his option declined, Kevin Pillar and Devon Travis could be dealt over the off-season, and there’s no guarantee that Jake Petricka is somebody the organization is interested in keeping around.

We’ve had some big stories involving arbitration over the past few years. Last winter, Marcus Stroman went to arbitration for the second-straight year and, uh, he wasn’t happy about it. In 2016, the Blue Jays and Josh Donaldson, fresh off his MVP season, went to arbitration, which wasn’t exactly a PR win for the new Cleveland Boy regime.

What will we have this year? Stroman is eligible to hit arbitration again, so that’ll be something to watch, and Aaron Sanchez has had two seasons completely derailed due to injuries, so his contract will be another interesting thing to follow. The biggest raises MLBTR projects are to Randal Grichuk (who made $2.8M last year) and Ken Giles (who made $4.6M last year).
