The Toronto Blue Jays have brought back some pitching depth.
Per the MiLB transactions tracker, the club has brought back left-hander Josh Fleming on a minor league contract. Mitch Bannon at The Athletic was also on the news last night.
The Missouri product signed a MiLB deal with the Jays this past offseason, and after appearing in one game for the Jays early this season, he was DFA’d by the club.

Josh Fleming has, indeed, returned to the #BlueJays org on a minor-league deal.

LHP Josh Fleming and RHP Austin Voth have both cleared waivers and elected free agency, the #BlueJays announce. This doesn't mean they can't still re-sign deals to return to AAA Buffalo and Toronto's org, though. We saw multiple players do that last year

Fleming made one start in Buffalo before the Jays called his number to the big leagues, going 3 2/3 innings with three hits and one earned run allowed while striking out three. The big league squad was struggling with injuries, and after Cody Ponce landed on the IL, the bullpen was taxed and needed a fresh arm.
Things got even more complicated for the pitching staff when Max Scherzer left his start against the Dodgers after just two innings with a forearm injury, and that’s where Fleming was asked to go multiple innings for the Jays. The southpaw allowed six hits, two walks, and four earned runs against the defending World Series champions, including one home run. He also hit one batter and struck out one across 77 pitches.
More importantly, Fleming was able to get through three innings to help save the Jays’ bullpen even further, albeit at the cost of his roster spot the next day. To make room for Patrick Corbin on the big league squad the following day, Fleming was designated for assignment on April 7th, and both he and Austin Voth both elected free agency.
Fleming technically re-signed with the Jays yesterday and suited up for the Bisons against Syracuse yesterday, going five innings. He allowed four hits and zero runs while striking out four in the eventual loss.
