Sources: The Toronto Blue Jays are calling right-hander Yariel Rodríguez back up to MLB. It’s still unclear when he will be officially activated, but he is expected to join the team tomorrow. Rodriguez posted a 2.63 ERA in Triple-A Buffalo, with 25 SO over 13.2 innings.

The Toronto Blue Jays are reportedly bringing in some reinforcements in the bullpen.
Frnacys Romero, a reporter with connections to Latin American signings and news content, posted earlier today that the Jays were calling up right-hander Yariel Rodriguez to the big league roster. Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith confirmed Romero’s report.
The expectation is that Rodriguez will be active for tomorrow’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays, but a subsequent roster move has yet to be announced. This could mean the Jays are sending someone to the IL, optioning an arm, or sending someone off the 40-man roster completely. Toronto does have an open spot on the 40-man roster, so adding Rodriguez doesn’t come at the expense of someone else if the front office so chooses, just the active roster complication that follows.
The Cuban has spent the entire 2026 season in Triple-A Buffalo after being outrighted from the 40-man roster this past winter and not earning a spot on the big league roster. With the Bisons, Rodriguez owns a 2.63 ERA and a 1.171 WHIP across 13 2/3 innings with just four earned runs across 11 outings.
The right-hander has allowed seven hits and nine walks during this time while striking out 25 batters to the tune of a 16.5 K/9. While the walk rate is a bit high, Rodriguez has been dealing in Triple-A, amassing a 2.09 FIP and a 2.89 xFIP with three games finished.
Rodriguez spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons in the big leagues with Toronto, working as a starter during his inaugural campaign before moving to the bullpen in 2025. The 29-year-old found improved results as a bullpen arm last season, posting a 3.08 ERA and a 1.151 WHIP through 66 outings, but found himself off the World Series roster after struggling in the ALCS against the Seattle Mariners.
