Bryce Miller will start ALCS Game 5 tomorrow night, Dan Wilson just said. Bryan Woo will be available out of the bullpen: “That’s the plan here going forward.”

No matter what happens in Thursday evening’s game, there will be a Game 5.
At 8:33 PM ET, the Toronto Blue Jays play Game 4 of the American League Championship Series against the Seattle Mariners. With a win, they will tie the series at two; with a loss, they’ll drop to 3-1 in the series, with the backs against the wall.
Thanks to a 13-4 victory on Wednesday, there will be at worst a Game 5, which will take place on Friday evening. For the Mariners, it was reported that Bryan Woo was the tentative starter, but news came down shortly before the start of Thursday’s game that it will be Bryce Miller who will start Game 5.
Miller was the Mariners’ Game 1 starter, pitching an excellent game on just three days’ rest. After giving up a first-pitch home run to George Springer in the first inning, he walked two batters in the same inning but got out of it. The Jays had just two base runners off Miller after that: Anthony Santander, who hit a single in the bottom of the seventh, and Addison Barger, who walked in the bottom of the sixth.
Given that Miller was on three days’ rest and the Jays found success against him during the regular season, it was a bit surprising he went six strong innings in what was a 3-1 victory for the Mariners, giving them a 1-0 series lead.
Logan Gilbert didn’t pitch as well as Miller in Game 2, but he was pulled after giving up three runs, and the Mariners eventually won 10-3. The Blue Jays’ offence finally woke up in Game 3, winning 13-4, as they scored eight earned runs off George Kirby.
As for Woo, he hasn’t pitched since mid-September due to a right pectoral injury. He was expected to start Game 5, but he’ll pitch out of the bullpen from here on out, giving the Mariners some length.
Thursday’s Game 4 starts at 8:33 PM ET, with Max Scherzer starting for the Blue Jays and Luis Castillo starting for the Mariners. The Blue Jays haven’t announced their Game 5 starter, but there’s a strong possibility that it’ll be Kevin Gausman, followed by Trey Yesavage in Game 6 and Shane Bieber in Game 7, if the last two games are needed.
