Charles McAdoo is making a case to be called up.
The third baseman/first baseman was one of many prospects acquired ahead of the 2024 trade deadline when the Toronto Blue Jays were well out of the race. With how well he’s begun his season, he could be the next prospect called up, following Yohendrick Piñango.
On Sunday, the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons played a doubleheader, winning the first game 6-3 and losing the second 6-4 in extra innings. It was in the second game of the doubleheader where McAdoo hit his fifth home run of the season, a blast that came 104.7 mph off the bat and traveled a distance of 422 feet.
Through 24 games this season, the corner infielder is now slashing .280/.375/.537 with five long balls in 96 plate appearances, good enough for a 142 wRC+. There were two main concerns heading into the season: His strikeout rate and his defence at third. So far, McAdoo’s K% has dropped from 27.7% in 2025 to just 19.8% in 2026. Additionally, the third baseman hasn’t committed an error in his 91 innings at the hot corner, nor in his 78 innings at first.
Now, the biggest issue is how do you get his bat in the lineup. Kazuma Okamoto has proven to be a fine defensive third baseman, while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has first base locked down for the next 13 and a half seasons. McAdoo has played the outfield in the past, but hasn’t been out there since 2024.
Another player on the Bisons making a case for a call-up is Josh Kasevich, who finished with two singles in the Bisons’ loss. Josh Rivera hit his fourth home run of the season in this game as well. CJ Van Eyk had a tough start, giving up three runs, two earned, in four and two-thirds innings.

Other notes from Sunday’s games…

Okay, but what about their win? Well, RJ Schreck hit his third home run of the season and Riley Tirotta hit his fourth home run in the young season. Catcher Will Simoneit also hit his sixth double, while Rivera was the lone Bison with a mutli-hit two game.
Their pitching was solid in this game too. Josh Fleming made the start, giving up two earned runs in four innings of work, walking three and striking out three. Brendon Little was awarded the win and is now 4-0. It wasn’t his best outing since joining the Bisons, walking two and striking out a batter in a scoreless inning of work.
Brendan Cellucci allowed an earned run, walked two, and struck out two in his inning of work. Additionally, Tanner Andrews picked up the save, striking out a batter in a scoreless inning.
That doubleheader was played thanks to a Saturday rainout. The Double-A New Hampshire Fisher cats also had their Saturday game postponed, but played just one game on Sunday. It was a 6-2 loss to the Reading Fightin Phils in the series finale.
Eddie Micheletti Jr. hit his third home run of the season and is now batting .270/.403/.492 in 77 plate appearances. The outfielder is one of three big run producers, alongside Sean Keys and Jace Bohrofen. Micheletti Jr.’s home run wasn’t the only extra-base hit, as Bohrofen hit his third double of the season, while Keys was 1-4 with an RBI.
It was a pretty rough day all around for the Fisher Cats, mustering just four hits and three walks. Fernando Perez gave up three earned runs in three innings of work to bring his season ERA to 9. Geison Urbaez threw a scoreless inning, as did Javen Coleman.
As poor as the Fisher Cats’ game was, it wasn’t nearly as bad as the Dunedin Blue Jays’ game on Sunday. They lost the series finale 3-0 and were no-hit in the process. Juan Sanchez, Victor Arias, and Juan Rosas each drew a walk, while JoJo Parker reached thanks to a hit by pitch.
Troy Guthrie didn’t even have that bad of a start, going four innings with one earned run allowed, three hits, a walk, and three strikeouts. Reece Wissinger struck out three, allowing an earned run in two and one-third innings.
It looked as if the High-A Vancouver Canadians were going to pull away with a win, leading 3-0 heading into the top of the seventh. Unfortunately, the bullpen blew it in what was a 9-5 loss. Arjun Nimmala hit his eight double, Dub Gleed hit his third.
Landen Maroudis had another positive start, allowing just one hit and a walk in three and one-third innings, striking out two. The Blue Jays fourth-rounder in 2023 now has a 1.69 ERA. Gilberto Batista gave up four earned runs in three and one-third innings, Carson Pierce allowed three earned runs in an inning and a third, and Jonathan Todd gave up two earned runs in his inning of work.

Notes from Saturday’s games

Only two Blue Jays’ affiliates played games on Saturday.
  • The Canadians fell 3-2 to the Dust Devils. Gleed hit two doubles and Peyton Williams hit his second double since the promotion. J.R. Freethy had a two-hit game, and all hitters except for Maddox Latta had at least a hit.
  • Austin Cates had a strong start, going five scoreless innings with three strikeout, two walks, and two hits.
  • Juanmi Vasquez struck out four in two and two-thirds innings, and Kelena Sauer struck out a batter in one and one-third innings. All three runs were unearned.
  • The D-Jays were blown out 9-2 by the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels on Saturday, solidifying a series loss. Yorman Licourt and Will Cresswell each hit a double, two of their four hits. Parker and Dariel Ramon had the other two hits.
  • Saturday’s game was Brandon Barriera’s best start of the season, throwing two innings, striking out four, allowing a walk, and giving up an unearned run.
  • This coming week, all three teams but the Bisons play a home series. They’re on the road to play the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
  • The Fisher Cats host the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, the Canadians host the Hillsboro Hops, and the D-Jays host the Jupiter Hammerheads.
