Blue Jays: Kendry Rojas named Eastern League’s Pitcher of the Week

One of the best Toronto Blue Jays’ pitching prospects has been honoured as the Pitcher of the Week.
It was announced on Monday that Kendry Rojas has been named the Eastern League’s Pitcher of the Week, thanks to a strong start on Thursday.
That outing saw the 22-year-old Cuban left-handed pitcher go five innings, allowing just two hits and striking out 10, while not allowing a free pass. It was by far his best start of the season. It was also better than his previous Double-A start, where he gave up three earned runs in four and two-thirds innings while striking out five.

For the season, Rojas has a 1.63 ERA and 1.36 FIP in 27.2 innings pitched, with a 39.8 K% and 5.8 BB%. With the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the lefty had a 2.79 ERA and 0.46 FIP in 9.2 innings pitched, thanks to a 41.7 K% and 2.8 BB%.
Since April 10, 2024, Rojas has pitched 89.2 innings with a 2.01 ERA and 2.47 FIP, with an impressive 30.9 K% and 5.7 BB%. He has pitched at nearly every level in that time frame, as he’s needed to rehab with the Florida Complex League Blue Jays and Dunedin Blue Jays on two separate occasions. He pitched the bulk of the 2024 season with the Vancouver Canadians and the bulk of the 2025 season with the Fisher Cats.
Rojas stands at 6’2”, 190 lbs and is absolutely nasty. He has a four-pitch mix, featuring a fastball that sits in the mid-90s with a significant spin. He pairs the four-seam and two-seam fastball with a high 80s changeup, as well as a mid-80s slider that averages over 2500 RPM.
It’s not a hot take to say that Rojas is the Blue Jays’ second-best pitching prospect, only behind Trey Yesavage. Rojas has disgusting stuff and has been consistent throughout his professional career. If he can remain healthy, he could become a valuable piece to the Blue Jays’ rotation in a couple of seasons.
