This is the June 3 – June 5 edition of the Minor League Report, where we look at how the last three days have gone for each of the Toronto Blue Jays’ affiliates. We’ll look at the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, High-A Vancouver Canadians, Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays, FCL Jays, and their two DSL teams in this article. If you missed Tuesday’s Minor League Report, you can read it here.
Let’s dig in!
Bisons take two of three to start the series
The Buffalo Bisons opened their series against the Syracuse Mets with an 8-5 victory on Tuesday, courtesy of a three-home run game for Will Robertson. Not to be outdone, Orelvis Martinez hit two home runs as well. CJ Van Eyk pitched five innings, giving up four unearned runs while striking out three.
Wednesday’s game didn’t go as well for the Bisons, as they fell 7-6. That said, Yohendrick Pinango and RJ Schreck each hit their first home run in Triple-A, the latter hitting it 448 feet. Martinez also hit his eighth home run, his third in two games. Lazaro Estrada made the start, giving up two earned runs in four and one-third innings of work.

The Bisons got back in the win column on Thursday, defeating the Mets 9-1. Riley Tirotta hit his seventh home run of the season, and Martinez hit another home run, his ninth of the year. Adam Kloffenstein had a strong start, giving up one earned run and striking out six in five innings of work. Trenton Wallace, Andrew Bash, and Ryan Jennings all pitched scoreless outings, with the latter striking out the side.

Fisher Cats haven’t given up a run in 30 innings
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats’ pitching has been terrific, as they haven’t given up a run in 30 innings. Tuesday’s game was a 4-0 win, with Jace Bohrofen hitting his eighth home run of the season and Ryan Watson going 6.2 innings with nine strikeouts. Hunter Gregory picked up a seven-out save.

Wednesday saw the Fisher Cats win 3-0, with Bohrofen hitting his second home run in as many games. Cade Doughty had a three-hit performance, and Bohrofen also hit a double. Devereaux Harrison went six innings with five strikeouts, while Geison Urbaez and Conor Larkin got the final nine outs.
Another day, another shutout for the Fisher Cats, as they defeated the Altoona Curve 2-0 on Thursday. There were no home runs in this game, but Gabriel Martinez hit two doubles, and Eddinson Paulino hit a double and a triple. Juaron Watts-Brown made the start, going six innings and giving up just one hit while striking out five.

Canadians won two games with late runs
The Vancouver Canadians opened their week with a 4-2 win on Tuesday. Nick Goodwin hit not just one, but two home runs, including a two-out, three-run shot to give the Canadians a lead. Khal Stephen struck out a career-high 11 runners while giving up one earned run in six innings.

Unfortunately, the Canadians weren’t able to pick up the win on Wednesday, falling 7-5 after giving up six runs in the first two innings. Victor Arias and Je’von Ward each hit their second home run of the season, with Arias finishing the night 3-5. Jackson Wentworth had a rough outing, giving up seven earned runs in four innings of work. Jonathan Todd struck out four batters in his inning and a third.
Thursday saw the Canadians win 9-4, moving them to 26-28. Arjun Nimmala hit his 15th double of the season, and Eddie Micheletti Jr. walked three times while Ward walked four times. Edinson Batista made the start, striking out four in 2.2 innings pitched. Chay Yeager struck out three in 1.1 innings of clean baseball.
Blue Jays start the week off with two wins
The Dunedin Blue Jays got back in the win column on Tuesday, defeating the division-leading St. Lucie Mets 3-2. They totalled just five hits, two each from Tucker Toman and Kendry Chirinos. Colby Holcombe pitched 2.2 innings with four walks and two earned runs allowed, while Eliander Alcalde, Johan Simon, Eminen Flores, and Jack Eshleman pitched the remaining six and one-third innings. Flores struck out five of the seven batters he faced.

After a rainout on Wednesday, the two teams played a doubleheader on Thursday. The D-Jays won the first game 3-1, with Jean Joseph, Manuel Beltre, and Toman hitting doubles. Daniel Guerra had a strong start, pitching five innings with two hits, three walks, and two strikeouts. Javen Coleman gave up an unearned run, but struck out three in his two innings of work.
They weren’t able to sweep the doubleheader, falling 4-1 in the second game. Once again, the D-Jays failed to hit an extra-base hit as Toman, Alexis Hernandez, and Peyton Powell each hit a single. Gilberto Batista had a strong start, going five scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Colby Martin gave up three earned runs in his inning of work, and Jay Schueler gave up the grand slam that scored three of those runs. So close.

Nick Sandlin made a rehab appearance, and Sann Omosako was tagged with the loss, giving up three earned runs in an inning and two-thirds. Raimundo De Los Santos struck out two in a clean inning of work.
The FCL Jays got back in the win column on Thursday, defeating the FCL Yankees 14-11 in ten innings. Will Wagner had one plate appearance on his rehab and was replaced by Drew Jemison, who hit his first home run of the season and had a four-hit game. De Los Santos, yes, the same one who struck out two on Tuesday, had a three-hit game. The rehabbing Kendry Rojas started the game, striking out five in three innings of work.
DSL Blue Jays (Blue) split their two games
The Dominican Summer League Blue Jays Blue won their first game on Tuesday, defeating the DSL Pirates Gold 6-1. Cristopher Polanco hit his second double of the season, and Daniel Dominguez hit a triple. Michael De La Cruz struck out five in his two innings of work.
Thursday saw the DSL Blue Jays Blue fall 6-4 to the DSL Phillies White. Rafael Flores hit a triple, the lone extra-base hit the team had. Moreover, no pitching performance stood out from this game.
DSL Jays (Red) fell 12-8
The DSL Blue Jays Red fell 12-8 on Tuesday to the DSL Nations, moving to 0-2. Luis Felipe had a three-hit game with a double, Nestor Urbina hit a double with two hits, and Pascual Archilla also hit a double. As is the case sometimes in the rookie leagues, no pitcher stood out for the DSL Jays Red.
On Thursday’s game, the DSL Blue Jays Red were suspended in the top of the fourth, with the game set to resume on June 7th.
