The Toronto Blue Jays’ farm system is in good shape.
Tuesday marks the beginning of the fifth series for Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, and the fourth series for the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, High-A Vancouver Canadians, and Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays. The four teams have started off alright, as the Bisons have a 10-11 record, the Fisher Cats have an 8-5 record, the Canadians have a 6-9 record, and the D-Jays have an 8-7 record. However, it’s been the individual performances that have stood out.
This week alone, four prospects won their respective leagues’ player/pitcher of the week awards. In Single-A, Nolan Perry was named the Florida State League Pitcher of the Week. Two Canadians’ players won an award this week, as Tucker Toman was named as the Northwest League Player of the Week, while Daniel Guerra was named as the Pitcher of the Week. Finally, Sean Keys was named as the Eastern League’s Player of the Week.
Both Perry and Guerra pitched on Thursday. Perry entered the game after rehabbing big leaguer José Berríos, then proceeded to strike out 12 over just five scoreless innings of work. Heading into this game, Perry had a 2.25 ERA and 4.68 FIP, with a 33.3 K% and 13.3%. After his performance on Thursday, Perry has a 1.38 ERA and 2.45 FIP, with a 47.8 K% and 8.7 BB%.
Guerra started for the C’s on Thursday. Over five innings of work, he didn’t allow an earned run, hell, he didn’t even allow a hit. The only batters to reach were via walks, while Guerra sat down 11 batters. The 22-year-old had a 4.82 ERA and 4.44 FIP, with a 29.3 K% and 12.2 BB% entering this game. Heading into this week, Guerra now has a 3.14 ERA and 3.18 FIP, with his K% jumping to 40.4%.
Toman had a terrific week for the C’s. Playing five games, the infielder finished with nine hits in 17 at-bats, walking five times to just four strikeouts. The 22-year-old also hit two doubles and two home runs, including one of three grand slams the Canadians hit against Spokane. Overall, Toman drove in nine and batted .529.
It’s an encouraging sign for Toman given where the Blue Jays selected him. Toman was drafted 77th overall in the 2022 draft, but struggled over his first three seasons. It looked as if those struggles were set to continue early in the 2025 season, but he figured something out in late May and has carried over that success into the early goings of the 2026 season. Through 11 games, Toman is slashing .368/.500/.579 with two home runs in 48 plate appearances for a 198 wRC+.
Keys led the Blue Jays organization in home runs last season with 18. The third baseman is off to another good start to begin the 2026 season, slashing .356/.482/.756 with five home runs in just 56 plate appearances for a 206 wRC+. Three of those home runs came last week, as he finished with nine home runs in 18 at-bats, walking three times as well. With a short wall in right field at the Fisher Cats’ home stadium, expect Keys to continue hitting long-balls.
