Blue Jays sign 17 draftees and 8 non-drafted free agents

The Toronto Blue Jays have announced their 2026 draft class.
At the start of Thursday afternoon’s game, the team announced that it has signed 17 of the 19 drafted players, as well as eight non-drafted free agents. There weren’t many surprises, and expect a handful of them to make their professional debut before the end of the minor league season.
One of the bigger surprises from the draft was being able to sign 39th overall pick Cole Carlon to an under-slot deal, especially considering where publications ranked him before the draft. Prep catcher Will Brick was selected in the fourth round, and signed the largest ever bonus for any player drafted outside of the first round in franchise history.
To be able to sign Brick, the Jays turned to under-slot deals for the majority of their picks from rounds five to ten. Catcher Jake Bennett is a solid flier to take, as he mashed 19 home runs in just 198 plate appearances for Dallas Baptist last season.
The Blue Jays selected a string of collegiate pitchers from rounds 12 through 17, managing to sign all of them. That included Mathis Nayral, who was born in France and attended Kansas in 2026. 
They also selected a top draft prospect in Jake McCoy in the 18th-round, but he elected to honour his commitment to Tennessee. In the 19th round, the Blue Jays selected prep shortstop Cole Travers, but were unable to come to terms as he embarked on his college career. 
As for the other pick out of high school, Eddie Rosado, the 20th-rounder agreed to terms with the Jays and will turn professional. Based off prior players the Jays have drafted out of high school, expect Rosado to make his professional debut in 2027.
Of course, there was also a handful of non-drafted free agents that the Blue Jays were able to sign. Reese Bassinger, Dax Dathe, Devon King, Isaiah Magdaleno, Gavin Seebold, and Isaac Williams are the six pitchers they signed, while Ryan Franden and Ian Taylor are the two position players they signed.
