Johnny King has a lot of talent.
On Friday, the Toronto Blue Jays’ No. 3-ranked prospect per MLB Pipeline, put together a strong showing with Double-A New Hampshire.
The 20-year-old made his second start with the Fisher Cats since being promoted to Double-A and turned in a pitching line of 5.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, during the Fisher Cats’ 4-2 victory over the Erie SeaWolves.
After allowing two runs during his first start with the Fisher Cats on August 15, the left-hander responded with an even better outing. After allowing an earned run in the bottom of the first inning on a Thayron Liranzo RBI single, King got into a groove.
After allowing the RBI single, King locked in and allowed only one walk for the rest of his evening. The showing was impressive for King, as he has struggled with walks throughout the 2026 season.
Through his two starts with the Fisher Cats, King is 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP. The lefty has struck out eight batters across his nine innings in Double-A and has held opponents to a .138 average.
For the season between both High-A and Double-A, King is 5-3 with a 3.19 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP. King has struck out an impressive 120 batters across 93 innings and has held opponents to a .206 average.
A hard-throwing left-hander, King has the opportunity to touch Triple-A this season if he can continue to impress with his repertoire at every level he touches.
